Hi, Im a new budgie owner and really need some advice from more experienced bird owners.
I got my budgie from a pet store about a month and a half ago and ran into some major issues. He escaped while I was changing his food and flew into a large mirror in another room a week after... Unfortunately all the vets I had recommended to me before I got him told me they do not do actual vet work on birds. I called every vet in my area and found one that would, but it was very disorganized. They told me to drop my bird off that day to be looked at the next, but when I got there I was told to wait and ended up staying there for a long time and he never got looked at. Afterwards I found some other avian vets but they are hours away and I dont have time to drive that far at the moment.
He was doing better and starting to bond with me, but recently he has gotten very weak and clumsy. Hes stopped playing/interacting with me and biting outside of training sessions. he never moved around much, but now he just sits on the highest perch all day preening. his droppings have changed in frequency and appearance. Hes still eating, isnt fluffed up, plays with a few of his toys (that are up there), and does more quieter chattering but Ive been worried since the incident and feel he might be sick with these new changes. I went ahead and called that vet again since unfortunately its the only option I have right now, but this date is booked next week. Does this sound like typical sick budgie behavior? Or is it more of a mood/trust thing? Is there anything I can do to help him until then? I did research before getting him and spend as much time as I can with him but it has been difficult to figure out what to do after these experiences and recent behavior.
Any advice is appreciated, and thanks for reading.

Sounds like this may be neurological in nature. You really must take your budgie to an avian vet before any damage is irreversible. Budgie may need a small amount of steroids.
