Hi! I have a boy budgie named kirby who is 2 years old. He woke up this morning with a runny nose, which has gone away with the help of a humidifier. However, I noticed that he has developed a tiny brown area on his otherwise blue cere. His droppings this morning were almost all white, then turned gray and now have gone a bit darker. His tail isn't bobbing and is eating and playing normally. He is not puffed either. He is acting completely normal. I will be taking him to the vet on Tuesday but I wanted to know if anyone knows what it is possibly going on with him. I feel really bad that I can't do more for him at the moment. Has anyone gone thru this w any of your birds?

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
not dealt with that myself but the running nose is a big warning sign.

Was tuesday the earliest appointment? My Conure went from being happy and healthy to dead in less than 12 hours. If possible I'd call and see if you can get there today

As soon as you noticed the runny nose your bird should have seen a vet. A humidifier will not kill bacteria. MOst likely he needs an antibiotic of sorts. The humidifier was a good idea from the standpoint of comfort. I hope the vet is an avian certified vet so treatment will be appropriate. The tiny brown area on cere as you know is not normal for a male. Are you sure this bird is a male?
