4 Parakeets ( Aria, Arabella, Baby & Chai)
Hi I live in NYC and I wanted to get my 4 parakeets to get a wellness check up. Never done that before since theyve always been healthy looking. I was wondering if anyone know how much it would cost and what exactly are done to them?

Thanks! :blue2:

I am also wondering this. I live in New York, and I feel like Cornell would be expensive although it's only a 40 minute drive from where I live

Good for you both for being open-minded, and for reaching out here.
Parakeets are SO worth it! They deserve everything that ANY parrot deserves.

Even though it doesn't cost much to buy a budgie, they are "worth" as much as any other parrot. Also, I think you mean an Avian vet, not Aviary.

It is important to know that there are different levels of a 'Wellness Check-up.'

What we do every fifteen months is to get a check-up that includes a full spectrum blood test with a physical examination. If the blood test indicates something is 'out of wack,' we than proceed for additional testing as needed. For our Amazon, which we also have nails trimmed as part of the visit. The total is around $ 160.00 for that CAV visit.

Our Amazons come to us with illnesses and /or injuries and we go the extra mile, since we are commonly looking for every additional hour we can get with them.

I would recommend that you start with a physical examination and based on the findings, proceed with testing from there. If you take all of your Parrots one time, ask about a discount, since time can be saved by working all of them at one time! Always ask! A half hour physical can be around $ 50.00. Remember that I am in the mid-west and costs are commonly less here.

My local place charges $60 for a walk in basic checkup, One bird. Not sure if you can get a group rate?
