Hi all!

I have recently been looking for a cheap and small space heater to warm my bedroom with. I keep my budgie in my bedroom so I need a space heater that will be safe for him. Do yall know if Pelonis is a safe brand to use around birds?
Any brands or suggestions are welcome!

Thanks in advance! :whiteblue:

you should probably call the manufacturer to verify, especially if it's an electric with wired coils. Often these coils are coated with Teflon or similar toxic chemicals. I use electric oil radiators. They are safe besides the hot surface factor.

FYI: Cheap and Safe are rarely found in the same sentence!

I bought a Holmes(a brand I was told by many people is MOSTLY bird safe) ceramic heater two years ago for my birds rooms, I like a steady 74°F. The one I purchased has an automatic temperature control and comes on as needed, has a safety shut off of it tips, and doesn't get hot to touch.

This is the one I have and have never had any issues! I believe they discontinued it though :/

If you find a model you like I would most definitely research it and call the company!! But from what I was told Holmes ceramic TEND to be OK to use.

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
just to add to this as well,

ANY heaters you get let them run outside for an hour, they normally have a coating on them to protect them in transit which burns off when first used which is toxic to both bird and humans

Hi Kimmy,

Check out their oil filled heaters, nice gentile heat. I've used them (different brand) for over 30 years. They never get hot enough to burn either you or your bird. Like said in an earlier post, run whatever you buy outside for a bit to burn off the manufacturing oils. As a matter of face, if you buy the oil filled one, might not be a bad idea to wash it with dish soap first to remove most of the manufacturing chemicals.
