Budgies escaped :( Getting a cockatiel!!
My two budgies used to be best friends, when I got them they were already in the same cage. But for some reason they have started fighting alot. Usually about who gets the swing and who eats first. But now they randomly start fighting about nothing! What should I do? Should I separate them?

Welcome to the forum!
I would separate them if the are no longer getting along. You could have their cages side by side so they can still be company for each other.

Hi there!

I agree with others to separate them.

Do you know their genders? Often females fight with each other, whereas males get along with males and females. However, there are exceptions.

They also may be hormonal for some reason, which causes aggressive behaviour.

I would separate them. I had the same problem, where my budgie was shaking because he couldn't eat, drink and his feathers were being plucked because my other bird was bullying him, and I moved the bullied bird, and he is healthy and happy. I would keep their cages close together (not too close) so that they still have some sort of companionship, but they each have their own area, toys, food and perches :) Hope I helped!

Thanks for all the support but now they don’t fight anymore, cause I trained them it’s bad. But this thread is still useful for people with the same problem! :greenyellow: :whiteblue:

I was keep telling them “NO!” in a angry/sad face, and they don’t like it when I get angry, and because I was keep doing it when they fight they learnt it’s a bad thing.

My two youngest budgies fight a few times every week so I will yell at them which can make them back off. If that fails then I let them out too fly around the room.
