Hello! I am currently working on taming my pair of budgies. They currently step up and are content to Sit on their table perch and watch a movie with me. They still are a little afraid of my hands which is understandable since they are so tiny. I'm a little confused with some of their behavior. When my finger is near Cass's beak he nibbles on my finger and Misha has recently started this as well. I don't think they are trying to be agrresive or bite me since I can barley feel it. The one time Misha bit me (me didnt like that I restrained his wings) it felt like a pinch and I knew h didn't like what I was doing. Also when they are next to me on their perch they will be grooming themselves and fluffing up their feathers. When I they get any sort of food or treats one will block the others way and the other bird will bob his head up and down in the others face and make these kind of kissing noises(Im not sure if I'm describing them right) and I'm not sure if it just means "Get outta my way" or something else? Behavior aside I was wondering how I can keep working on making my hands less scary? I bought some millet to help train them with as they love it.
-Thanks!

Quick question. Would housing the budgies separately help the training process or is this a horrid idea I should throw away immediately? Misha is much more dependet on Cass and will follow him everywhere, Cass is more the leader and is fine for longer periods without Cass.

I would attempt taming together, however if you feel that it is slowing the process, you could try separately. You just need to judge the situation as you go along!

Thank you! I get farther when I work with them separately so I think it would be beneficial to try housing them separately. Any good cage recommendations in case I decide to go that route?

So, quick update on these guys. I think I am starting to see a little blue on Misha's cere. (Is that what its called?) Although it could just be my imagination. The budgies are getting better although hands moving too quickly are akin to the world ending. As long as I move slowly they chirp and sing and stay "fluffy". Fluffy is my term for when they are happy and slightly fluffed up. They will even sit on my shoulder and sing, groom/nibble on my hair and try to rip out my earing!(This hurts but I'm glad they are warming up to me)

Monkey see, monkey do... I prefer training together since you already have more than one.

True! Misha is getting much better after seeing that I haven't eaten Cass yet. Stepping up was super easy after Cass learned it. Unfortunately Misha learned the "Rip the earing out of the healing ear game" from Cass...

Ear rings and birds on your shoulder are not a good mix.
If I was a bird I couldn't resist too.
Finger nibbling is them getting used to your hands, often a sort of greeting.
