Hello! I decided to start a thread for the budgies since Pita has one too. Misha (the white and blue) and Castiel(Yellow and Green) are two pet store budgies that were my first plunge into the bird world. They are not very tame but they do step up when they feel like it. We are working in it though! Of course pictures are in order, forgive my ignorence in the uploading of pictures.

They are older pictures and the dowel perches are down where they dont use them, and it is more "open" now since Misha is flighted. I still am adding stuff but its a work in progress. And yes, the names are from SPN. :)

I had them out yesterday and Misha was flying exercise laps, it was so cute! I need to grab one of those small parrot playstands that are made for budgies.

Jim

Budgies are one of the prettiest birbs in my eyes. SPN is Supernatural, its a show about two brothers who hunt monsters. :)

Misha is the actor's name and Castiel is the character he plays. Cute.
I've watched supernatural but didn't recognize spn as the abbreviation for it.

Sammy is progressing so fast! He already does a mediocre version of step up and is content to sit and preen and do the happy budgie fluff thing on my finger. You know when Budgies are happy they get fluffy? Its adorable :D

Beautiful birds and lovely cage. If recommend adding more perch variety (various diameters and textures) to help in preventing bumble foot. I'm sure the birds would feel more comfortable too. I only saw the photos on the first post so forgive me if I missed it.

Cheers to your flock.

Thank you very much. I have not posted recent pictures of their cage but they do have diffrent kinds of perches, I would like more variety but its a work in progress. There is a rope perch, and three or four diffrent "branch" perches. They also have a coconut hut thing that has a ladder they LOVE to sit on.

So every summer I go to my grandparents house. This is only for a week or a day or two more than a week. I would like to take ONE of my budgies with me, preferably Sammy. What should I take with me? So far I have seed (he wont eat pellets or veggies), a harness, carrying cage, and a travel cage. What else should I take?
Just a side note: I CANNOT take Pita with me but I have instructed my parent on her care and we will set up facetime sessions so I can see her. I will only be gone for two weeks at the MOST.

I've been watching the budgies for awhile and Misha and Sammy have bonded pretty closely but this also means that Cass is kind of ignored now. Cass is my tamest budgie and I feel bad for him. Misha and Sammy and always sitting close together and Cass is usually by himself. Should I get another bird to keep him company? I have plenty of room in my flight cage but there is always the chance that the new bird won't get along with the others which would just double my issue.

Sounds like you’ve got everything you need for your visit - I can’t think of much else to take with you except maybe a few toys?

I’m not sure if I’d get another budgie for Cass, can you just spend more time with him? I’m sure that he interacts with the others, but may need a bit more one on one interaction. I too would worry about getting another and what to do if you end up with another “odd-man-out” :)

I have some good news! I believe that the budgies are finally eating pellets (why they started now I'm not sure) but they still won't eat veggies or fruits. Still, a step in the right direction! Sammy is still the least tame but he also has an improper wing clip to the point where he "drops like a rock". If he's up high he can get from point A to B bit if he's on the floor he has to fly and than climb all the way up. They really love millet (Pita always trys to steal their millet) so I think that will be really good in the training process. I think I'll just try to give Cass some more one on one time, maybe he will be my tame budgies and the other two will be my imitation lovebirds

I believe that Misha is a male because he seems more dominant but Sammy has a blue cere and darker legs. My question was if I do end up with a male and female in my trio should I separate the males and females? They are all young still bit their exact age is unknown as pet stores don't keep records very well. Right now Misha and Sammy are sitting on the swing and Cass is at the opposite end of the cage staring at them.

Yes, separating them is a good idea. [emoji16]
