I let Mishka sleep in my bedroom, in his night cage.
I place a small blanket under the cage, and one covering the cage.
He is in my bedroom from 8pm till 5am, that is 9 hours solid.
There is so much dust and powder from him it's unbelievable.
Each and every morning at 5am, I dust the entire bedroom, top to bottom, sweep and mop it.

Perhaps this is the reason your mum refuses to let the bird sleep in your bedroom.
Make her a promise that you will clean the room each and every morning, the whole week through.
If you get the go ahead, make sure you stick to your promise.

Give the above a shot, it's worth a try............

I am not talking sides here................ hear me out

You never mentioned where you want the birds to be if they were to be inside the house........ the lounge, dining room, spare room etc


When we got Mishka I knew, he would be my responsibility 100%.
I am at home basically 24/7. When Mishka makes a mess, I am there
clean it up immediately. Some days, it's heaven other days, total disaster.
Every morning and evening my wall unit gets feathered down, as all the other furniture in the lounge. Then I attack with a mop.
Each evening, his cage gets scrubbed and cleaned.

If my guys wanted to get a bird, I would be the first one to say no.
The are out and about, working and University, who would then keep the place clean.

When I was growing up, we lived in a beautiful enormous house, extra rooms available. The most beautiful backyard, with trees, a swimming pool and a cute little wendyhouse. I was not allowed to have any birds at all, my parents were extremely strict and stubborn.

At the age of 35 I got my first bird, perhaps you should count yourself lucky that you are allowed to keep birds.

Diego I sympathize with you..................
Knowing that your animals would not be cared for properly, while you are away.
I am just making a point here, do not take this the wrong way.
When you got your pets, did you think towards the future, who would look after them, if I were to go to college or University?. What if I got sick, and were not able to keep them any longer?

Possibly your parents do not have the time or patience to have animals.

They don't have a problem with the mess, because they're happy to have the bird in my room during the day for as long as I want. The promise is already there that it will be kept clean. They are aware that there could be poo and the like in every inch of my room and that's okay. I don't think my parents even know that birds have dust/dander XD
I think it's because she thinks it is unhealthy to sleep with the bird in my room, even though I'll spend my waking time with it and apparently that's not unhealthy.

Your parents are probably thinking of your health in this case, the bedroom is a smaller room, perhaps they are thinking the air is cleaner and safer for you. Could be a number of reasons.
Why not ask them the reason why?

Ant, to be honest, you're absolutely right. I did not think about college when I adopted S'mores and Bartleby.

It's not that my parents don't have the time, they just don't do it properly and they're too lazy to do it. They think the birds don't need that much care, even after showing them medical reports, care books, etc.

I still have time to think about. I do have a few ideas as to where to keep them when I go off to college.

You want them in the bedroom then. I am quite aware of the mess pigeon's make, believe me. I personally would not keep pigeon's or baby chicken's in my bedroom. That's just me.............others may differ.
Maybe, just maybe, your bedroom is already to crowded. They do not want to add any further mess in the bedroom.
Suggest to them a one week trial period, and take it from there.
