Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
if he isn't eating solid food yet take him back to the breeder, give them a slap and tell them to do their job and raise your bird to eating solid food. You can incredibly easily KILL your conure accidentally hand feeding formula to them.

They should be in a cage and well accustomed to using perches long before they come to you. Once again take them back to the breeder and make them do their job. Don't believe the horse manure that they need to be fed by you to bond with you. This is nonsense, they can bond to anyone at any age.

Hi Mansado! Which part of the wide world do you stay? We've members all over who can help you. Universally the best method of weaning is called abundance weaning. That being said, it's illegal in certain countries for breeders to sell unweaned babies because it's so risky and they have such a high chance of dying for a variety of reasons. But the country I live in, it's common to have unweaned birds. So do let us know what kind of situation you're in.

There are a lot of responsible breeders in this forum who can guide you if you have no other options but to take your baby's life in your own hands. I'm sure they'll be along shortly to advise you :)

It looks like you've got a nice cosy set-up and asking the right kind of questions, so I think despite the little unweaned one, you're on the right path!

what lordTriggs said, also why did you post under budgies?

Mods can you redirect to general questions or conures?

But yes take to breeder and say you already paid but want him weened first. and you were told by a lawyer (which i'm lyeing about because I am not) that after the bird is weened you have a 30 day return policy if the bird becomes ill.

(which of course you won't use because you will totally fall in love)

So see a CAV regardless in both cases. a CAV visit is like 50-80 bucks for a general checkup. And it's a good time to start a patient file...

the bird is going to live like 30+ years...might outlive your vet....start getting the records.

Greetings and welcome Mansado. Please ensure a qualified person takes proper care of your conure until they can eat solid foods. Generally, for conures, this can be anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks...it is very difficult for a lay-person (non-breeder or non-veterinarian) to properly feed an unweened bird, especially a small one, without risk of inducing choking (from the feed mixture going down the wrong passage, into the lungs instead of the stomach).

Hope this helps. Keep us updated. Thank you!
