I was at Pet Supplies Plus getting food and toys for my flock.

I met a lady buying nutriberries by feed the parakeet that's been coming to her wild bird feeder.
She calls him parakeet Pete.
She found the owner. They dont want it.

If she can catch him he's mine.

Side note her friend rescued a pied pearlco katiel last year

Yes Pete is an escaped bird. The original owner does not want him back.

B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
Escaped or set free? If the old owner was located and doesn't want him back.... hmmmm

Regardless, how awesome! Thank you for taking him in. If I were in your shoes I would have my CAV on standby for when Pete is caught he can go straight in for a checkup.

Try sparrow traps. I have heard they are quite effective in trapping small birds

Parakeet Pete is on the loose  The poor guy just kicked out on his own to fend for himself and the owners don't want him back...that makes me so so   Well at least I see your in Texas so its pretty warm there now. I hope you can rescue him and give him a proper home!

Oh Grace I hope you are able to rescue Pete, his lousy previous owner clearly didn’t deserve him!

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
That is great!

*You probably already have considered this, but do quarantine him etc before mixing him with your flock--in the event that he joins*
