I promised an update on Beau Dandy whenever I had one and I think the little guy is feeling miles ahead of where he was, no more gimp, no more sleeping most of the day, he's no longer having difficulty passing waste, and he began singing quite prettily this morning and gave an encore this afternoon, this level of improvement has convinced me that while he will still be getting a check up (Belle will be too) it will be a general wellness and annual type of visit more than any specific concern...feeling very blessed that he seems to have made such a remarkable recovery so quickly.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, budgies are as tough as ten bears!

We had a budgie years ago called Pete who had cancer for probably the best part of 2 years but he just refused to give up. Our current budgie Val has had his health issues too lately but soldiers on regardless!

Your Belle and Beau Dandy sound quite wonderful and i look forward to hearing more about their progress, it sounds like they now have a great home with you :)

We're presently working on learning how to eat fresh veg and fruit, which is definitely more difficult than I had originally anticipated, and also working on getting comfortable with my hand in the cage, no stepping up just yet, but Beau Dandy sure wont let anything as trivial as uncertainty stop him chowing down on millet in my hand, Belle's having none of it thusfar and simply bully's or begs her way into him sharing some with her after he's back on the perch lol

That's amazing to hear! Keep trying with the veg. It could be any number of factors but the most common one is that they're just not interested in the moment. If you can, show them you prepping the food. They love to get into stuff they think they're not supposed to.

Thank you 18WOS...glad to hear our little Beau Dandy's feeling dapper enough to impress Ms. Southern Belle with hand delivered millet...that's my boy :D..

He's quite the charmer for sure, and I must say his antics give me hours of laughs, she is quite obviously smitten with him, and I'm hoping that she will eventually follow his lead and give the whole feed from my hand bag a chance
