Sleep conditions?

I usually let my Golden Capped Parakeet sleep by covering her cage with a cloth and closing the lights. Is this good for them? Can they sleep in the light of a TV or something else?
EDIT: She has fallen asleep once during the day, in a dimly lighted room.

So long as the cage is completely covered and the fabric of the cover is thick enough little light gets through (black fleece works well), she should be fine. Keep the TV at a reasonable volume though.

Oh, I only use the TV as a light source, and yes, only a little light gets through the cloth. She has torn a couple tiny holes in the fabric but those shouldnt be a problem. Thanks! :D
