My parakeet has put on a lil weight last few weeks.
Every time I have fruit and fresh vege I put some in her cage she lies apples and pears etc long as they are cut correctly (thin)
I am wondering if I should change her seeds to pellets for a while? How would I get her interested in eating pellets? It can be difficult to get her to try new things. Even leaving in her cage she seems to ignore things. I do change her seeds and water daily. Seeds I try and be careful how much I put in her seed bowl.
I do let her free fly. She is my first bird and I have learnt a lot about caring for her and everything and now I would like some help and advice with her losing weight. If you look at her running around the floor and stuff she doesn't look fat and isn't getting out of breath. Sitting in her cage she looks like a lil fat but walking etc she doesn't

can you weigh her? Just because she may "look" fat doesn't mean she necessarily is. Also can you feel her keel bone?

She doesn't like to be touched, it has only been about a week since she has started getting on my finger to carry her but she wont stay long yet. But tomorrow I will try and weigh her with the kitchen scales and I will see if I can feel the keelbone (even though I know she will protest a little)
