Silly question... Is this baby budgie rare?

It sounds so silly but out of all the budgies I’ve dealt with for years... I’ve never had a whiteish budgie with purple cheeks? The pictures don’t really justify it but it literally is bright purple!

I don't really know what you mean by "whiteish budgie" (blue? a lot of white?)

Most of budgies have purple cheeks (the most common mutation which never has them is lutino)

This one on the photo if I am not wrong seems to be cobalt spangle, one of my budgies is blue opaline spangle (if not opaline mutation, she would be like this bird on the photo with other hue of blue)

I just meant she’s mainly blue all over the belly and her back is more of a cream colour with beige.

Im just fascinated with he purple cheeks as I have never seen it before.. that’s all I was asking

Cream colour with beige? Ok, I don't understand it:D
My budgie has more blue but as I mentioned above this is because of the opaline mutation. ... I was thinkig about colors and maybe my budgie has more darkblue than purple... oops sorry! They are the same colours to me:D

that’s what I mean kinda hard to describe lol, some feathers are white, but mainly cream... but has like a beige outline on the feathers too then the purple cheeks just threw me.. just so weird especially as her sibling is bright yellow [emoji23]

A red one sure would be rare!

I actually have a budgie almost Identical, and she had two siblings that were a spitting image, in that clutch there were 3/5 That looked like that, so with those odds I don't think it's very rare, I know I'll get the name of the mutation wrong so I won't try, but if the entire budgie was purple, that would be more rare, I've got 6 of my own and most of them have purple cheeks, one of them only has one purple cheek, and the other side is white! Pretty bird regardless of rarity!

This is genetically impossible ;)
Ps. Recently on facebook I saw that somebody bred lutino budgie which has some redish feathers. She bred 'em and is sure the bird isn't dyed or something simillar. Also was trying to wash off this but isn't dirty. I'm writing this 'cause no one knows how it is possible, now she's waiting for molting, maybe this will disapear.

Impossible would be rare! I'm sure we would all love a picture of the one you are describing!

I looked for this post and found it:

These are 2 of 9 photos from this post on fb.
I've read again some comments, somebody asked if maybe this is just a lighting effect but also not.

That certainly has a red quality to it,if Photoshop wasn't around I'd be more inclined to believe it, however that would be a fine job of Photoshop, looks too natural somehow. Cool pictures!

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Budgies, like Cockatiels, have so many color mutations that it boggles my mind! I posted a picture a while ago of a cockatiel Amy and I saw at our local pet store that looked all BLACK to me! Turned out to be how the lighting was hitting him/her,but still it was unique looking :)

When I picked up my female tiel the shop owner had some babies that looked black, just like you say, turns out they were all whiteface with no white other than the face, and the gray hadn't lightened up yet, I thought they were solid black too! Almost purchased one because of it too!

Lol, I remember this:D

On one hand the post about this budgie was written on a side of a breeding centre or something simillar, anyway they breed different birds. Also, there isn't one or two photos but 9. That makes more reliable but on another hand... that's genetically impossible.... This just makes me stupid. If that's not photoshop pink-redish color should disapear. The photos also were sent to the best budgie mutation expert in Poland who says the same - it's impossible
