Well, it only took around 4 months, but I finally got my babies to recognize my finger as a viable perch WITHOUT having to have food immediately accessible, in fact Belle was just as interested in nibbling on my callouses and finger nail as the millet she got as a treat for being a good girl, Beau Dandy was less quick on the uptake, but he got the idea eventually, hoping within the next few weeks we can move to another trick, or perhaps increase the distance they have to go in order to receive the reward millet, super stoked

That’s excellent progress

. It’s always such a great feeling when they figure out that the hands are not the enemy. My most recent addition is still working up to “hands being a perch”.

Lol, she got outright forward, even tried to pin the finger down and wrestle with it so she could beak my nail, quite the change from her original timid self when she first came home. It has been quite the journey with these two thusfar, but they overall seem to be enjoying life in general. They seem to have figured out that when certain things occur, it means we are done with driving/work for the day and they hang on the door and demand quite loudly to be let out to play and explore, and here recently to hang out and watch sports and be near me, which is exciting.

I can totally see it, like a photojournalist documenting your story cross country with your feathered kids. Them perched on the stirring wheel of your rig with the mountains/beach/desert in the background, for example. You get the picture.

I do...it is however a 2000 plus dollar fine, trip to jail, and the end of my career to get caught taking pictures while driving a big truck, I will wee ifI can't do a 30 day journal thread or something and try to include some photos of the kids and the scenery

Text stops? Must be a Florida thing, there are rest areas, truck stops and Wal-Mart parking lots, as well as obviously the customers I service...I'll do some looking into it by Monday, let me know what sorts of things you'd like included

I didn't mean while driving.

I meant when you stopped here & there ....

Lol, very well, you guys tell me what sorta stuff you primarily wanna see and I'll try to put something together, natural scenery, cityscapes etc

That and just a record of your life on the road with your Fids.

How they change your experience, better or worse, people's reaction when they see the birds. That kind of thing. A Trucker on the road with his feathered friends.
That's a story. If you video logged and posted to You Tube, you would be an instant sensation. To my knowledge it hasn't been done.
I totally want to come along and enjoy your journey. So, that means you have to start documenting your life on the road with the cuties. Ha

I can relate to the joys of making progress. While I'm home, I leave the cage door open for my little P.D. (who I guesstimate is about 8 mos old) to come out whenever he wants. He's doing it more & more, and today I held my finger up (about 8-10ft from his cage) & he flew right to it. He talked & chirped up a storm! Love that little guy!
