Hunny Bunny Munny Sunny & Roger the parakeets
I've only had my budgies for a lil over 2 weeks. I rescued 5 of them & have realized my huge challenge of hand taming all of them at almost a year old. They are totally afraid of me. I've been standing by their cage, telling them how pretty they are, holding my hand inside & looking at them with one side eye. They look at my hand like a kid a looks at a plate of broccoli. But I'm not just the big huge scary hand!
We finally had a small breakthrough. Bunny & Munny are my star couple. Munny is the main dude with the most confidence. While they were off to the side making kissy face, I was able to get both of them to eat millet while I was holding it. They both ate from it again yesterday!! It may seem small but it's big to us.
My plan is to keep working with those 2 & let them talk my other babies into it. We have a long time but they can have a fly around the room sooner if they are cool with me.
Advise, support and encouragement are appreciated!

I can relate to you, as I have only had my budgie a week and get the same weary response that you are. It just takes time to earn their trust, as birds are not domesticated as dogs and cats are. I wish they were, but I'm willing to give mine more time. Keep working with them and I will mine.
