I believe at last my bond is growing with Oliver. He will let me pet him on his swing early in the morning, but not the rest of the day. Then starting tonight with the cage door open he came down to the front of the cage with me in front of it, just inches from me. I think he wanted on my shoulder but not quite there yet and he's still not ready for handling, although within a month we may be. He has come a long way from where he was. Must have had a lot of rough handling early in life to be so afraid of hands.

So happy to hear that the Bond is developing...

As and FYI: Birds tend to identify with our faces first and with time begin to connect 'us' with our tree that our head sits (perches) on. Hands are difficult for birds as they can be seen as a snake and will naturally avoid. Once they connect our tree stuff with us, they open-up more quickly.

May the Bond continue to open and strengthen.

Enjoy!!!

Oh wow. I didn’t know that, but it makes a lot of sense. That bit of information is super helpful!
