Flight suits?

Has anyone used flight suit for their parakeets? I'm bringing home some babies in around a month and would like to be able to take them to other rooms beyond mine, but my parents say they'd need to be in a flight suit. I've only seen people talk about using them for larger birds, but do you think hand-raised babies could get used to them?

First, flight 'suits' are a heavier design and most Parrots are not overly interested in having that much stuff on them. Most people appear to be using a system of straps call a harness.

Search around and see if you can find any that are small enough for your Parrots.

FYI: Just because you want a Parrot to wear a harness, doesn't mean your's will have any interest what-so-ever in letting you put them in one!!!

I have seen flight suits on cockatiels and caiques - I don't recall budgies though.

While it is technically possible, it can cause problems. Because they are essentially diapers, oftentimes the bird either holds in his poo while wearing it or the bird can get an infection from sitting in his poo (like a baby would).

Perhaps look into the reason why your parents insist on flight suits? If they are concerned with the poo, parrots can be potty-trained (or humans can be trained to read their birds' body cues that signal a poop is incoming).

Yep pretty much as stated

It easy to potty train as humans can be trained to read their birds' body cues that signal a poop is incoming. Then after a while they learn to poop in certain area, or will step down and poop when getting out of car and etc. It took my male U2 cooper a week to potty train him.

Flights suilts are more issues then they are worth. Get a aviator harness and train your bird to accept it is on them.

Yeah if your looking at flight suits because of the pooping issue, better to train them to go in certain areas. THe poop catching "diaper" part of the suits seems like its way more messy than just keeping a kleenex or hankie in your pocket. Plus, the suits ( and harnesses) take a fair amount of training and familiarization in order for your birdies to LIKE being in them.

Oh for sure if I got one I wouldn't necessarily expect them to take to it, I just wanted to know if they were worth trying out.
Thanks everyone, I will for sure look into getting harnesses!
