Is it normal for a budgie you just brought home to literally just let you pick him up and to be so scared that it doesnt move. I can tell its still a baby cause the stripes still go down to its beak so maybe its just lacking the survival instinct but it was basically just letting me do whatever. I could pet it and it didnt react. I had it put in a small cat crate and when i opened the door and had it partially in the cage so it could go explore it just went to the crate door and stood on the top of it, not moving while looking at me(it was so adorable). I tried to get it to atleast step on my finger or hand but once again it didnt want to move at all. At some point my arm was in pain so i decided to just pick it up, which im aware is wrong but i was legit waiting for a half hour for it to move and it wasnt, but it just let me, and i set it down on one of the perches in there and since then its just ben chilling and looking at me. It has moved a bit but not a whole lot. Has anyone has a similar experience? I thought it would had atleast made an effort to move away from me but not so far.

I’d take it to the vet to see if it might be sick... maybe it just needs a few days to adjust to the situation and get familiar to its new environment but it doesn’t sound too wel

Sunny the Sun Conure (sept '18, gotcha 3/'19). Mr Jefferson Budgie & Mrs Calliope Budgie (albino) (nov'18 & jan'19). Summer 2021 Baby Budgies: Riker (Green); Patchouli, Keye, & Tiny (blue greywings).
That sounds a bit like mine when I first brought them home a year ago.

Yeah, dont stress this little guy out anymore. Let him chill in his new cage for a few days, talk to him in a soft soothing voice. Offerhim some millet in his food bowl, fresh water. 'Keets are pretty hardy, give him a chance to de-stress.

As everybody else has said, just let your budgie adjust. I'm sure they're in shock. It'll be okay. If for some reason this behavior continues, try to see if you can go to a vet.

Best of luck!

Update: I started playing parakeet bird chirping noises and that seems to have had a response. The bird is eating now, but i have yet to see it go to the water bowl but its possible that it could have. It made me sad that the bird wasnt doing anything until i started playing the bird chirping noises so i went out and stumbled upon a parakeet at petsmart that was up for adoption because of a amputated toe. They are sitting next to eachother so i think they are getting along. Ive been giving them space to adjust and my room so so far i think its helping a lot. Thank you all for answering :)
