Hello,

My budgie has some strange skin deformations appearing on his face. They were mild initially, but looks like they will cover his eyes as well. I am not sure what these are. Also, due to lock down, avian vets are closed and we can't go out of home.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Please see the photos below:

My state is under full lock-down but you can still make an appointment with many vets--- for instance, mine is staffing the office with very few people and doors are locked, but you can still come in if you set up an appointment. Are you sure they are actually closed?

Could be some form of mites but don't try to treat it with anything until you know exactly what is up because many mite treatments are very toxic-- you need to talk to an avian vet first. You might be able to find one that would do a video consult online if you cannot see one physically...just a guess.

Yes, my vet is offering Corona-conscious curbside appointments... an assistant picks the bird up in the parking lot and in they go and later, out they come, payments online. I have also heard recently of vets offering parking-lot-based texting exchanges that facilitate a quick trip directly to the waiting room. Sooo... it's worth a few phone calls to see if there are options.

Wow, this is a real challenge for us.
