I have three I have questions about.
One is more of a pastel so I'm not sure if she/he fits into the mutation.

I had a yellow parakeet once and always thought she was a girl. I also had a cockatiel. Female one. She would lay eggs so that was 100% sure thing... lol

Anyway... They got along great. SO much that my yellow parakeet was "mating" with her. Which would cause her to lay eggs that obviously wouldn't be fertilized.
Can you all help me figure out the sex of three of my babies please? I know the pastel one is pretty young!

I'll have to upload the rest in the next post.

first 2 I have been calling Iris.

My yellow and white don't have names yet. I always wait till something comes to me. haha

I wish I could show a better photo of my albino. He/she's cere has blue around it, but the photos don't show it very well..

I figured it out a bit. Sorry for all the post!!

Weird when I use flash I can almost see some blue on him/her's feathers, but it isn't there other wise!

Pastel - I want to say female but this one is pretty young

Lutino - Male. Males do not get a blue cere, it remains pink. Same for albino and recessive pieds. Females would still have the white/tan/brown ceres.

Albino - kind of iffy there! Looks male-ish in some photos, more female in others. The blue sheen is normal. They can also have a purple sheen or even a green one - depending on what other mutations they have.

Thank you for responding! :) I thought the Lutino may be male!
I'm iffy with the albino too! What should I be looking for in a boy and in a girl?
Still white around the nostrils, but I see such a mix of pink and blue! Purplish..

I'm going to try for another photo since those were a couple days before lol

Here are some with flash. I will post some without as well after this post.

I also have a runt who I'm questioning now. Even though I thought girl at first it likes to hump the rope in the cage. However, goes more for the guys (I know the males can get along great). Also read that females can imitate and do what boys do as well.. I'll post those after I post my albinos photos.

Well, shoot. It won't let me post!

Then some with my Runt we called Indigo, but now Hercules. lol

with and without flash.

He's a sweet heart, but so tiny and feathers a mess. Had him since Feb, but he's a happy sweet thing! My 8 year old's favorite. lol

He keeps saying girl! I question it myself now. Even with the rope humping. lol

I am 71, married and fairly private. I have PM privileges but prefer the phone. Printed messages, are so limited. jh
Short of an actual dna test, this seems to work pretty well.

Watching them I can definitely tell yellow is a male.
The white one keeps wanting to nest? Not sure if males do that too?
The young one kinda tries to nest too in the box I have in there.

When I turned on mating noises the only one who really reacted was yellow. He is now doing that sweet mating noise. May just be mimicking what I played.

The albino could be too young to tell but I want to say female.

The creamino ("runt") looks more male to me.

I know you said you thought so haha I just tend to go on and on. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm sorry! You were right though! Yellow is male and white is female. They even took over a box I had in there. I have one named Sage who likes to hide so I ended up just putting another in there.
I didn't know my runts colors had a name! Thanks for letting me know! :) I've immediately told my husband. Haha he is the sweetest though. I walk up to one of the cages he is in to talk to them and he always comes up and starts to "chatter" with me. So sweet. My 8 year olds favorite.

When I was younger I always wanted a house full of all kinds od birds. Most at once when I was a kid was 5. Budgies, but 1 being a cockatiel.

I have just budgies right now, but we talk about when we move that I will get that room. He's super supportive of it. :)

My friends call me the crazy bird lady now. :30:
I swear I I don't have them cramped in one cage in a small place! I always feel like I have to explain myself. Lol I live in a 3 story 5 bedroom. I have them in the brightest room which is the livingroom and the upstairs stairwell which is open to the livingroom.

My cranky pair I got from a breeder; who I don't think he did so good because their feathers just looked out of wack, obvious pecked spots and what not. This is who I also got the runt from. He met me somewhere. Not his house. Which I found odd... he brought a couple and my heart kinda tore and I had already said I wanted two, but saw Hercules (runt) and he was all skinny bolding and whst not. You can tell he was picked on. I took him too.... they now look much better all though my older 2, male and female Orin and Tesni love eachother, but not really other birds except my new one Sage.. so since they stress easily they get the upstairs stairwell that's open and a window with it over looking the living room. So they get the tall cage I call the mansion all to themselves. I have a big side by side split cage for two pairs. Astraeus and Aries then Raiden and Storm. Haha
Then my big cage which I call the community cage lol opens at the top and everyone hangs out there when out. Which has my yellow, white(still need names!), Hercules, Sage, Iris and Hermes.
I don't plan on getting anymore.
They are too spoiled and it's getting really pricey. ๐Ÿ˜‚ hubby quoted me at the beginning, "It's two small birds, hunny! I grew up with them! Already got a starter cage, get a couple things, also bird food last forever!" (still have small cage for travel, etc) got a couple mixes of bird seed (constantly!), vitamins for water, cuddle bones, couple things to sprinkle on food... veggies when we go to the grocery.
My husband every time I buy something. Especially big stuff like cages.. quotes me. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Honestly, I didn't even expect to! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I love them.

Everyone says my house is a zoo and not because of just birds. I'd share photos, but it says I am over limit now? Trying to fix up my basement since no one uses it and it opens up into the back yard. Lots of light. Was thinking of turning it into my "bird room". My 15 year olds room is right next to it though. Lol maybe when he goes to college I can just have his room for them. It has a huggggeeee window. Gets bright. He doesn't like it being a teen and sleeping in and all. Lol

Sorry.... I went on and on! I do that with my adhd and all. Lmao

If you read all that. You're awesome!!!

Sounds like they are all in a great home! :) If they eat a diet that includes pellets and fresh foods, they don't really need vitamins though! (not to say that pellets should be their base diet, just part of their diet)

I have multiple cages.... my biggest being 5' x 5' x 6'.... I only have 7 currently in my care! lol My biggest is my mitred conure... who's the size of, say, maybe a small cockatoo? But with a larger head!

You could always share from an image hosting website or maybe a social network place as long as the image is public?

I've always wanted a cockatoo! haha Also would love a conure, but I've seen so many different types that I'm not sure which one I want. I fell in love with a cinnamon one at a pet store once and just kept asking my husband over and over can I go get it. >.<

Is there a website besides photo bucket I can upload photos to?
