I got hand tamed budgies around 4 days ago and they were eating from my hand and stepping up. Yesterday I woke up and checked on my parakeet and they were hesetent about eating from my hand and were scared to step up even one foot on my finger. I also thought that they might not have been able to eat and crack open the seeds in the foodbowl so I bought special budgie millet mix for them. I have a kitten whitch likes to stare at them like a predator who wants to eat them sometimes (I always stop my kitten when I get the chance!) and that might also be the problem. I'm not sure why my budgies are being scared of me and/or my hand. Advise?

Do your hands look any different than they did in the beginning? Did you put on nail polish? Use hand lotion (the smell freaks my conure out)?

Did anything happen the evening before? Maybe one of them tripped as they were stepping up or stepping down?

I'm sure they will eventually go back to normal, birds can be weird sometimes.

My hand isn't different and they haven't tripped. They just feel kinda uncomfortable when I'm around. I hope that they will go back to normal soon though :)

The kitten may have given them a fright, specially is she is stalking them.

I'll make sure that my kitten wouldn't be able to get to them and try to gain their trust back. I will make sure to say if there is progress.
