Tornado budgie Carriers?

Does anyone have any budgie carrier ideas? I'm trying to find a carrier/cage for my 2 budgies. I live in an area with tornados, and would need something tough/hardsided to hold them in when one passes. The only bird carriers I've seen have either been mostly cloth, and the few hard-sided ones were pretty flimsy. Could I use a small cat carrier? Would the bar spacing be too big on the front? Thanks!!

something like this could work.

a cat carrier could but you would have to rig perches in there and if they poop, it's more likely to get on them.

If the tornado actually hits your house, you would want their cage potentially under a sturdy beam or in a bathtub and/or covered with a blanket (in case of blowing debris etc).

Hi, @SleepySheepy. Did you ever find a suitable carrier?

Hello! I ended up getting a small cage ment for budgies (from a local petstore) per noodles123's idea :) I replaced the dowel perches with rope ones which I think will help them hold on better if they need to, and I have a blanket to cover the cage if the tornado gets close/bad enough.
