See siggie :)
I HATE this. I waited all weekend for mum to get back so I could take Lilly to the vet, and she sides with dad.
I begged them to let me take her, and dad kept saying 'What's the point? All the vet's going to do is look at it and say keep an eye on it.', which made me want to punch him. Isn't that terrible?
And then mum said later 'I think she's gunna cark it soon.' and I wanted to slap her.
And then my friend dropped off her cockatiel that night, even though I did say to give me a week.
So I'm going to find my budgies good homes, with somebody who CAN get them to a vet.
This is just tearing me up and my budgies don't deserve this.
Neither does the cockatiel but I'm stuck with her until I find an excuse to take her back. I think I'm allergic anyway.
So....... better get working on that flier for re-homing the budgies :(

Sometimes we have to make decisions that are not comfortalbe and cause us pain. People that do not love birds the way we do can not understand how we fee. I am sorry this is happening in your life. You have a deep love for birds and taking care of them. I hope at some future time you can have others, depending on how bad your allergy is.

So sorry to hear that your situation has made you believe this is the best course of action :( We all know how much you love your birds and how well you care for them. I wish you and you budgie flock the best, no matter how it shakes out in the end... and if you do part ways with your flock for now, may you soon return to it.

Your parents are really acting in a terrible manner. Frankly, isn't there some animal control you could call? Not offering proper healthcare is animal cruelty.

I know it's ratting out your parents but they are behaving in a pretty sick fashion.

That really must stink for you. I wish our parents could understand how much we consider our bird family. My parents still see them a decoration. :( I hope something good happens soon!

Ratzy darling, I rarely come on the forum anymore and decided to hop on today to see what's going on and this was the first post I saw. I felt compelled to comment and let you know how sorry I am to hear this, you are such a wonderful Parront and I know how much your flock mean to you. Your day will come when you will be able to able to independently care for another flock, they will be so lucky. Don't ever change, you're a kind caring young soul and if I were a bird you would be my first pick to be my Parront.

Be well...... April

Things are a little better now.
Thank you SO much Von :)
I don't think I will rehome now.
For the first time ever, my parents looked online with me for an aviary. I found a massive one not too far away. I'm paying half, and it's a birthday present I think ( if we get it ) .

im new, but i completely understand your frustration. our budgie toby was ill and we took him to the vet (we're tight on money as we just moved out and our making our own money) and we have yet to hear the end of it from my fiance's mother about how we're wasting our money. sadly toby has passed. i feel the frustration. you feel budgies are your family, and they truly are. your parents probably grew up with the same thinking many people have--that budgies are replaceable, look alike, cheap, and dont need everything any other pets have. theyre ignorant to the true care of a life, any life, and its frustrating, i know. after toby passed i made it my goal to open a budgie rescue/retirement. this makes me want to do it even more. budgies among all birds suffer the worst for being small and cheap... a life is a life and theyre all entitled to the same rights and care and its awesome to know someone as young as you know and respect this! im glad you're thinking about keeping them still, and that's great :) maybe you need to just try to show your parents how lively and intelligent a budgie can be, show them that theyre not just an ornament for the livingroom and they have equal right to care and love as any other creature on this earth. but politely lol, theyre still your parents. im sorry to hear about lily's passing. i read it in the other post. you did your best for her. its not your fault at all :(
