Very nice!!! I would advice not to paint the nest box! Cockatiels will chew wood!!! And I would highly advice not to breed a lutino to a lutino! The more you breed them like that the most likely the offspring's head gets very bald! It gets worse if you breed their offspring with another lutino.

The aviary has a full size door.

@MikeyTN. Thanks for the tips. I will be adding a few more pairs of tiels. The nest box was painted using non toxic paint by the maker. He is also a breeder.

Where did you get that idea? I never had that problem..... I had all mine in a aviary before and babies hatched out and grow just fine with budgies and I did not provide budgies with a box.

One thing you can do is hang up smaller nest boxes for the budgies if your worried....make sure all same box, facing same directions, etc. Budgies are colony breeders and picky about their box. If you have one that is lower and one up higher. The higher up one would have a better litter with bigger clutch. Or they'll fight for that box by killing the babies within to take over. But budgies usually will back away from cockatiels cause a nesting pair can be pretty nasty to intruders.

That usually happens if the hens gets driven out of the nest. During nesting, a budgie hen rarely ever leaves the nest. The male does not help to incubate. If she leaves the nest, she leaves the chicks to intruders to kill, that's why they usually stand at the entrance and wait for the male to feed her. With Cockatiels, they usually take turns to sit on the eggs.

Thanks for all the inputs.

A friend told me to put extra nest boxes to prevent them from fighting or killing babies.

Previously they were all kept in a small cage. I bet they are very happy now.
