Thank God I read a review.. Q for people with playtop cages?

I was about to purchase this cage until I read a review. It said that the particular cage had no top bars to hang a toy or swing from, which is not worth the playtop trade off. I'd want my birdie to swing its little heart out. I can always make my own like people have suggested. The description makes no mention of it, so it would be a "SURPRISE" once I bought it. So my question is, for cages like this Hobbs Playtop Bird Cage - Bird Cages at Bird Cages once I remove the playtop would it be a sheet of metal instead of bars? After all my looking and searching, I will have to start again.

Sprite the cinnamon green cheek conure.
I have a cage exactly like that and if I remove the tray its bars. But mine is a Cal. cage so it might be different, although ive never heard of a cage like that. I LOVE playtops and so does Sprite. He'll stay on his playtop and i never even taught him to!

BODE: Nanday Conure (5 years old)

I have two playtops and wouldn't get a cage without one. I feel like it allows my birds more outside time without me needing to engage them.

The below is the type of cage I have. I always liked how you could just move the playtop anywhere. Before I switched cages I would take the playtop to my room so he could sleep on my dresser on the perch.

I hadn't looked at your link before I put up mine. Mine is identical & most def. has bars. Perhaps they had put the cage together incorrectly? Amazon has the same thing for cheaper. I'm selling my used one for $75 as my aunt gave me a larger cage for free.

I'd venture a bet that 99% of cages have bars as the top and not a sheet of metal; maybe some have trays above the bars to catch stuff from a play top but there are still bars up there!

Billies EZcare cage has a playtop with a slide out tray, but when you slide the tray out there are bars under it(on the ceiling of the cage). I actually leave the tray out a lot because it lets more light into the cage and since he is flighted he is almost never on his playtop, he would rather be on my laptop or on ziggy's cage, which doesn't have a playtop, go figure

sorry, I meant to type Billie's EZ Care cage lol, Here's a link. He has the smaller one and it is way too small for him IMO. I like the cage design but I really don't think it should house anything bigger than a budgie or a parrotlet. Fortunately, Billie isn't in his cage much and he flies everyday so I don't feel quite so bad, although we are looking to get a bigger cage when funds permit. The bigger one looks nice though, just really expensive! Pet Bird Cages: EZ Care Bow Front Cages at Drs. Foster & Smith

Yea, that is hella expensive especially for both dimensions.

I think I got the pic saved now so I can attach. Amazon is listing for $179 new. If you go on Amazon & type in Cockatoo cage, you'll be able to find it. Mine is the same thing in dark green. for $75
