Kings Cages won't be here in time !

I'm not downing "Kings Cages", but I ordered a cage last Saturday and it was supposed to be here today (2/16/12) or on Thursday, so that by Monday when she arrives via plane transport, we would have it set up & ready for Shelby. I called Kings Cages today to get a tracking number, but they said they haven't even shipped it yet ! eek !!!

I was pretty mad, but I did not blow my temper. lol

I asked since it's their problem if they would pay to air ship it and they said no. But, they'll give us a $50 credit for our next purchase.

So, I could not find any to barrow or rent that is large enough for a Too. I may end up using our large dog kennel. Scrub it down with bleach and let dry all weekend. I can get a dowel and bolt it to the kennel so she had a perch.

Any other ideas & advise ?

Shelby would probably be fine in a carrying cage for a few days.The breeder where we got Pearl would take her on work trips for a week at a time in her carrying cage when she was being trained to be handled.Some carrying cages arent too expensive just something that would do for the time being.

Cant you use the credit they gave you towards the air shipment ?
That really , really bites !! If its going to take that long to get to you , why not pick out a similair cage from A&E ? They will probably have it to you quicker then waiting for King Cages.

But the dog kennel will work out if need be.

I thought about the carrying cage she'll be shipped in, especially since I'm home with her, so she wouldn't have to be in the 27/7. But, it really won't take much to get the dog kennel cleaned up, and it's a big one. Even making a temporary perch won't be a problem.

At first, I was so mad I thought about canceling my order and buy another cage from someone else, but we really like the Kings quality and design, plus with the smoking deal we got on the cage and the other discounts we received with them, it's too much to give up. It better not happen again though !

Yeah , I agree , if you got a real great price and you like the cage alot , its hard to walk away. How long till they ship it ? Why did they give you the arrival date in the first place when it clearly wasnt to be ? What was their reasoning for not notifying you that it wasnt to arrive when origionally stated ?
You had tro call them , that's the part that really p***** me off . You couldve at least made other arrangements to house the bird

If my wife wasn't here at the time I was conversing with Kings, I would have blew my lid ! If I hadn't have called, who knows when they would have shipped it ? He tried to blame it on the gal who took my order, saying she's been sick the last three days, but I said, that her end of it was done, and whom ever is in charge of shipping, is at fault !
It could be that they did not have one in stock and had to build it, but who knows.

You're correct, I could have found a temporary cage if they had let me known.

Yeah, that really does bite! I think the dog kennel is better though than leaving her in the carrier. Like I said though, if I were closer I'd have brought the extra cage over, but I can't.

Another thought is check CL for a used cage, buy it for now, and then resell it when you get yours in.

Update-

I called trucking business and asked what they could do, and they said they'll do anything they can and would call me back. She did and the cage & stand will be her tomorrow afternoon, one day sooner than expected !

Shelby will only be the the DOG kennel for just one day, so that's ok. After taking it to the car wash, blasting it clean, then a 10% solution of bleach and rinsed it forever,.....it should be ready. I did attached a perch.

I'm leaving shortly to the airport, as she arrives at 4:30pm via Delta. I called them and told me if I arrive before the plane lands, he'll make sure she's off at the same time and the passengers. That is awesome of them !

The temperature is great at 46 degrees with a little rain. I have a blanket to rap her carrier in to keep dry and warm. Patty will stay in the truck to keep the interior warm. (not that's it cold, just because)

I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. lol

Being in the dog kennel for one day isnt so bad. And your cage and stand, accessories will all be there tomorrow , so really , it all worked out. Cant wait to see pictures when Shelby is finally settled in her new home.

I'll call in a bit. We just got home and she is eating in the carrier. Then,....major (boxer dog) sniffed her, and she HISSED at him !
