do you know the manufacturer? if you can figure the brand and model, you could call them to get the piece.

i have and a&e cage with a playtop. the playtop had a defective piece so i called the store i ordered it from and they sent me the new piece.

If you don't know the brand/model of the cage, you may be able to have one made somewhere. Just down the road from us is a little place that bends metal.

for temporary, you can always just use a disposable bedpad up there, that's what I use in the bottom of my cages

I have a cage like that, which I used for my cockatoos, who are now in an aviary...

I took off the top tray, as it made the whole cage very dark, and it was difficult to hang toys inside the cage...

Why don't you measure the space . then check into a shallow lipped stainless steel baking sheet pan or cookie sheet pan. Alison and sweetie pie:D

You can just use a doggie pad on top. I have a cage with a tray but it blocks the light so I just use a pad and fold it back when he is in cage. Works great.
Easier to clean as well. I use them in the bottom of my cages just like wharfrat.

Those pads make it SOOOOOOOOOOO much easier to clean cage bottoms than newspapers!!!

if you know who made it, call then and you can order a new one. for now you can use a cookie sheet! and i have a question about the doggie pads, how much do they cost(say about per week) to use. and do you just use 1 per day or layer them or what?

Not sure if it would work for your needs, but would a piece of acrylic possibly work for you?

ohhh like plexiglass mighty??? I just need something to slip of there so when she is playing she doesnt drop bombs on my head below LOL or on her toys and things

IDK about doggie pads I read a couple horror stories about them, I know they are very toxic if the birds get ahold of them..I normally use natural unscented non clumping kitty litter but I didnt have enough to do the whole tray. My vet actually recommended corn cob litter or said i could use cat litter for easy clean up, she cannot get to it because my cage has to great of a space. Newspaper and the bombs she drops = a big hard mess to clean up LOL

Jax had a habit of pushing the tray out when he was inside the cage, the little monster. Maybe he was telling me he wanted more light? I had to tie wrap it in place.

What about getting a piece of wood/MDF (bird safe of course) to slot in there. You could glue/nail on edges to make it like a tray. Or just have it flat.

I use newspaper in full sheets, it's easy to just roll up the mess. Its the seeds scattered on the floor that drives me crazy.

Never had even one bird mess with them, not only that, but in the cages they just can't reach them thru the grate, when I used them on the playtop cage, no issues then either

Yeah, plexiglass/acrylic is pretty much the same thing. You can drill it, cut it, and buy smaller pieces at lowes and home depot.

If you just needed a shield that lets light through, this is what i would go with.

Best of luck!!
