Cons - Open top. Hate them all.

Second cage cons - only one door - this can make it more difficult to to clean the entire cage. The cage heigh between the "dome" and "playtop" is so great that the bird may not spend any time in the lower area.

Between the two, I definitely recommend the first one!

I like the first one better because it has 2 big doors for easy access. :D

Parker will be one happy baby. ;)

yeah.. as far as the open top i'm only 5'4 so I wont use it anyway...both birds current cages have them ...I don't think I have ever opened them

as far as cleaning goes I try and pressure wash at least once a week so cleaning isn't that bad but never really thought about it thanks for the input this is why I was asking

do you think I should go with a normal cage then? I didn't think of that as far as height difference...he climbs all over the cage he is in now, even plays on the floor...

If you want the split top cage and you think they'd enjoy it, then I say go for it! It's all up to you! People who have these cages most often love them! But I've heard more complains about the ones that have a great height difference between the sides and those cages that only come with one door instead of two... especially for short people! Our arms just aren't long enough to reach all the corners unless we climb in! :D

I don't have a split top cage, only one dometop and three (technically - one is a curvy flat rather than a square flat) flat tops.

2 Indian Ringnecks, Tiki (DH's) and Pippin (mine), 1 lovebird, Gemma (DD's) and 1 in birdy Heaven... RIP, Wilbur.
I like the first one better, too.
