My cage arrived today! I'm super excited! Now all I need is my GCC to go in it! 8 weeks is an awfully long time! :( Oh well, in the meantime I'll be collecting lots of toys to keep me busy! ;)

The only thing I'm worried about is that the perch on top of the cage is taller than I am. (I also have kids so it is WAY taller than they are). Do you think this will cause any dominance issues? TIA

Not sure, but I have the same brand and we have no dominance issues with her. If you'll have problems you can remove this perch.

Poppet. A Quaker.
Nice cage but I feel for you having to wait 8 weeks to get your bird. I spent almost a year looking for the right bird (well, right breeder actually) and then when I found one I still had to wait 5 days. I was like a kid waiting for Christmas. :) Hope it goes quickly for you.

Dominance doesn't exist in parrots, so no need to worry about that! :)

But if you do have issues getting a bird to come down from above, just train him or her to come down to you through positive reinforcement training! This can be accomplished via target training the bird down lower! (once the bird is already reliably target trained)

I have this exact same cage!!!! Kiwi loves it because she can climb and jump around and I love it because it's easy to clean!

She also loves climbing to the top area -I put toys in those top bowls and she loves taking them and tossing them off the side >.<

Your new conure will love it!! Looking forward to seeing pictures!!

oops..i took a closer look - sorry the pic is small. the top part is different on my cage...but the height looks the same. No issues with getting her on and off though, she usually climbs in and out and on top, then back down on her own so I don't think the height will cause any issues. It just gives them a nice high point to look around, which is nice for birds I think.

Good to know that your conure likes the cage (even if its a little different!) It's definitely a big upgrade from the cage we had for our cockatiel! I am enjoying setting up and getting ready, buying things to make toys etc. Just finding the wait for our feathered friend difficult!!!
