Canadian Cage Sources?

Hi,
I live in Ontario, Canada and I am wondering where Canadians buy their cages? Do you ship from the US or buy off the internet? I am near-ish the border (1.5hrs drive) so I could ship to NY but it would be way easier to get it close.
I have found two places, on in Ontario and one in Quebec, has anyone bought from either of these places? Are there any other good ones I have missed?? The Quebec one will ship to the bus station close to my work for $56, so a pretty good deal. I haven't enquired as to shipping costs from the other.
Which cage would be best for a TAG?

A23 Pearl White - Elite Pets

0680 ? Large Dometop Bird Cage | Bird Cages Naomie

0760 ? Playtop Victorian Bird Cage | Bird Cages Naomie

Thanks

I am from Edmonton, so shipping is a huge issue for me. I am actually researching cages AGAIN at this time. I have bought my previous cages from wayfair.com from the states. If you can get them on sale, sometimes it balances the shipping ( I only buy the sale ones). I have several cages. I also bought from a canadian company from BC ( can't remember the name) It doesn't matter where you buy it from , it's the brand. I bought a prevue, thought it was not made very well. A and E and avian adventure are better, and you can buy those at wayfair. Plus Dr. Foster and Smith now delivers to canada, and they sell HQ which I heard is in the same class as A and E and AA. What brand are the ones you're thinking of buying in canada? I would rather spend a little bit more money on a better brand with shipping then a cheaper cage that won't last. I am actually looking at Kings cages, problem is, no one ships them to canada. You can use a shipping company in the us that will ship these types of products from states to canada ( expensive though). I have used the service once. I am actually looking at alluminum kings cages ( they're not that heavy, so the shipping cost is less). Overall, I find the quality of the cages are better from the states ( you have better selection) If you have time, and can shop around, sometimes you can find good deals which offset the shipping costs. Check out wayfair.com ( I have had good service from them), and Dr. Fosters and Smiths ( I have not ordered from them yet, but will if I want a HQ, you can't buy a HQ in the states). I hope this has helped.

I just re-read your post. Living so close to the border, I would buy the cage from the states, just don't forget to pay duties and taxes!

Hi,
I hadn't settled on a brand yet, so many choices. I too like the aluminum King's cages but I didn't like the review. I don't think I need something that is very hard to clean! But the red and silver cage is gorgeous:)
The border isn't too bad, no duty if it is from the US, just taxes which we have to pay anyways. The one thing I worry about buying it from there is if it is damaged in shipping I am going to have to make more than one trip down to pick up pieces.

I have purchased all of my cages from Canada- and I have 20 of them, one of them is a Kings Cage, and the other is a very nice open top parrot cage.
the rest are flight cages or smaller

I've purchased mine from Canada cages.com, Elite Pets, and my favourite pet store in Mississauga, which has now closed :( :(

If you are near the London, St Catherines area or further west there should be some fantastic stores down that area, as I know there are tons and tons of breeders down that way.

Exotic Wings in St.Clemens have some great cages, and have very good delivery.
Paradise Perch in Mississauga has good cages but are pricey.

I have looked at Wayfair, Dr.Foster & Smith, etc....and I was concerned if the cages were damaged thru shipping, what then?, I also factored in duty, taxes, and shipping costs and it just didn't seem feasible to me.

I did a quick look for you and came across this site which finds the lowest prices on cages from all over...doubtful Canada is in this, but it gives you an idea what the best prices are and from what companies

btw, where are you located??

Parrot cage large - Bird Cages & Stands - the place to shop if you care about price

I am located near Ottawa, Ontario. So nowhere near all the good bird supply places:( The Exotic Wings web site looks good and their prices aren't bad, I wonder what shipping would be. Amazing prices on the aluminum Kings cage, cheaper than on the Kings cages own web site! The reviews on it as being hard to clean have me worried about going with it as an option though.
Did you like the cages you got from Elite and Canada Cages?

ooops, I went the wrong way....for some reason I thought you were down that way.
Canada Cages sent me a bent frame on a double stacker cage I ordered from them, and could not be repaired, so I live with it. The cage I got from Elite Pets is good, although there was a price discrepency so I had to clarify that with them....always something!!

I would either go with your 1st choice in Quebec as they are not far from you, or Exotic Wings. I have dealt with them for a few years and they are accommodating to a certain extent.
IMO every cage is hard to clean, but I guess to some degree some may be harder than others.

I'm just north of Newmarket(about 45 min. north of Toronto)and there is not a lot of choice around here either, except on line, or your local pet stores.

I wish I could help more....

Thanks Crimson. You have helped:) At least I am finding out that there are Canadians out there. I think I will give the Quebec one and the Exotic Wings place a call and see where it goes. I am not in a hurry as the TAG still has to be weaned yet, just want to get things organised so it seems real and is not a rush at the end
