Anybody have any experience with Amazons and corner cages? I like the idea of tucking a cage in a nice secure place. Any recommendations on manufacturer?

I think corner cages can be great but you have to be careful that the bird will have enough light and that out of sight is not out of mind.

We are looking for a bird for our family. It's very much like we are pregnant and waiting for the day the new addition comes to the family!
Matilda, it says URL not found when I click on the link

Good point. It will be between two windows but will not have direct sunlight. However, another window located 12 feet in front of the cage will have direct morning light. I think this will avoid overheating in the summer.

Thanks for the info! I can't get the last link to work.

I don't really see much point in a corner cage. I'm not saying that they are bad or anything, but the standard square/rectangular cages fit in corners too so they aren't necessary.

I would like to point out that most vendors offer free shipping because it is built into the price. Whatever cage you decide, shop around because prices are different. Definitely check EBay. With the holidays in full swing you should find a good deal.

I looooove corner cages.. I have one for Fargo.. It looks alot neater in a corner, rather than having a rectangle in a corner, because it wont fit as nicely ;)

Also.. Depending on which size.. But you have the rectangle part.. Then you will have ANOTHER section.. So it is bigger than just a rectangle cage, cause it has another third to it.. If that makes sense

Fargo's corner cage is massive, alot bigger than alot of rectangle cages for macaws :) That's one of the reasons he has such a lovely tail, because it doesn't hit the sides of the cage!

I have Dexter, my YCA in the first cage that Wendy posted, and he loves it! We have an avain light on his cage, and he has so much room in there. If I had the room, I would put all my guys in one of their own.
Here is a pic as we were in the process of moving him. The cage next to it was his old cage. He now has alot more toys, we have had to add 1 at a time as they freak him out, same thing with new perches..lol

The cages that have been linked to are rectangles with one corner cut off to create an angled panel for the door. They are actually smaller than the rectangle cage would be, but I really have no idea how yours is designed.

All I was really trying to say, I guess, is that they are not really space saving in any way, so they really are not any kind of brilliant idea as many people would think. If you like the design, go for it, just like any other type of cage, they can be great, good looking cages.

There is a picture I see frequently on google+ of drawers where cabinets meet in the corner. Everyone seems to think they are ingenious, but all they do is change where the basically unusable space is while providing an oddly shaped drawer that can limit its uses.
Here's an example: http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base_images/zp/inside_corner_drawers_1.jpg

They are not rectangles with the corner taken off ^^

They are squares with the corner taken off.. You are getting more space than a rectangle

I guess i just love mine because it is so much bigger than many rectangle cage i see for macaws! :)

They just fit nicely in a corner, where as if you have a rectangle in a corner, you have one side of the wall where you cant do anything?

Haha those drawers look strange, i wouldn't get them, but they are the opposite of the cage design!

Ah each to their own! :p Some people hate corner cages, some people love them! :)

I don't get it. Neither of these are even close to the shape of a corner cage which is neither a square or rectangle.

The right one is how my corner cage is? :20:

Its one side rectangle, then the other tray is the other shape :p

The cage on the right that Tab drew is most definitely a corner cage. It's like a hectagon (5 sides). :)

Well there you go.. I was always taught that a square had to have equal sides. and the rectangle had to have their opposites sides the same :S

Rectangles couldnt be squares and squares couldnt be rectangles hahaha

Maybe you americans learn it differently ;) hahaha

But anywaysssssssss, the corner cage IS a square, with just a bit chopped off ;)

Cause the sides are equal if it wasn't chopped :p
