Hermes the Green Cheek Conure
So I'm going to be giving Hermes (GCC) a sleeping cage now that he has begun step up more confidently. As well as he is getting a large day cage. The cage the breeder gave me is broken and held together by zip ties so I want to just redo it totally.

But I can't find any info on how small is too small for sleep cage. There is a smaller finch cage that I kinda like but I don't know if it would be too small or not... Is there a rule of thumb or is it just they have to be able to turn around comfortably and stretch comfortably?

Thanks everybody!

cooper's sleep cage is actually his carrier. i got a very big carrier(not actually big, just compared to other carriers for quaker sized birds) for him so we can take him places, and keep him there. not just for like to the vet. it lets me put in a couple toys and it has 2 dishes. back to topic, if ALL they do is sleep in there, it doesnt have to be to big. big enough for maybe a second perch. depends on the bird to, if your fid doesnt like sleeping in large spaces, get a smaller one :)

IMO you need a good travel cage. Somethings that's easy to transport and fits your car.All my birds have one. I keep it on top of their main cage and they use it as a sleep cage (if they want one). Like mrgoogls said, it real helps when you can take them places and do more with them.
