That was quick! Shipped across the entire US in 5 days even through Thanksgiving and the weekend!

I'd take a picture of it, but I didn't want to bore you with a photo of 3 boxes...:52: I'll take pics when it's all set up :). Don't have time now, nor do I feel like doing it frankly!

Now.... What to do with the old one!
My previously "old" cages I conveniently gave to my mom when she started having birds, and one large one I still have in storage. Raven's old cage will not be reused. I don't believe it's in any condition to sell or be used for a bird again.
I will probably have to break it down and PAY to take it to the city dump? Anyone have another idea?

Make it a decoration in the yard/garden. You could paint it any color you want and then put potted plants in/around/under/on it.

If I had a yard I would have done that with Zilla's old cage.

I like Amanda's idea best! Perhaps grow a small veggie garden for the birds in it. If not, you can always sell it to a scrapyard, as they'll take cages. You'll probably only get $10 for it, but hey! Better than nothing and you can get Robin a small toy for his new digs with the funds:D Can't wait to see it!

I'll have to see what my dad thinks about that. Backyard is his domain, although he's really too elderly to be out there by himself doing things, but I can't stop him.

It might be nice to grow flowers in there too... Then it will get completely rusted out in the outdoors, but that would add to the 'rustic look' lol.

Maybe keep a tarp over the top and keep garden tools, shovels, rakes, etc? I don't know.

Sell it to a scrapyard? Might be another good idea!

Gardening........hmm, what about taking it apart and using it as a trellis? Or leaving it together and putting it in the yard/garden and letting something like morning glories climb up it? That could be unique and pretty, also if it isn't going to be used for birds you could paint it so it isn't all rusty. :)

Now that you have so many great answers to your question about the old cage...

WooHoo Raven! New bachelor condo, Buddy! Plan the cage warming party!

Seriously Julie, can't wait to see the cage! I hope it's exactly what you wanted!

Honestly I didn't think about a shelter. I wonder "how much rust" would really be too much for them to want? I can contact them and talk to someone anyway. Thanks Terri for that idea.

I can see if either of my parents would like it fr an outdoor 'decoration' either painted or as is...

OR, as April had suggested, hubby says he knows scrapyards will take old metal and give you a little for it.

Okay, thanks guys for the grest suggestions :). Now to at least cut it out of the box is the next step.... I'll keep you posted!

I am so excited to see the new cage! And even if the cage is in pretty bad shape, I was also wondering if maybe a rescue would refinish it so it could be used? Some great ideas you got about that cage so far:)

Terry, that is a good point! If a rescue takes it for free, and they know how to refurbish it, they might say yes!
