What are your favorite cages?
I've seen some rather beautiful ones out there, and then read horrible reviews about mismatched parts coming in when people actually order them, and am looking for a list to try to pick from that is 'proven' within the community.

I'm specifically interested in wide, rather than tall cages, for medium to large birds, but want this thread to be a little more general and leaving it open for all bird sizes!

I really like the large Prevue flight cage for my small/medium Quaker. It's not tough enough for birds with bigger beaks, but it is great for his size. The only downside is that I had to add the universal seed skirt offered at Drs. Foster and Smith and it was very hard to install due to the way the cage sits on its stand. I am also looking to buy this cage as a sleeping cage. The one he currently sleeps in (the cage he came with) is one of those horrible cages that have a plastic bottom and are HELL to clean. I am still looking at what large cage I want for my not-yet-home galah cockatoo.

If I had been able to afford it, I would have only King's Cages. My B&G is in a King's cage, and I love it with a passion! He's been in the same cage for 5 years now, and it has zero wear and tear. :D
It's this one:
King's Cages - Avian and Pet Bird Cages, Supplies, Food, Toys, Perches, Aviaries, Pluck No More

All my other fids are in A&E cages, in various sizes, and I am happy with those, too (so far).
These are the A&E cages I have:
My YN Amazon is in this one
9003628 AE Cage Dome Top 36 x 28 Powder Coated - DOME TOP CAGES

DYH Amazon in this one
9004030 AE Cage Large Dome Top 40 x 30 Powder Coated - DOME TOP CAGES

And my GW Macaw in this one
9004836 AE Cage XL Dome Top 48 x 36 Powder Coated - DOME TOP CAGES

From what I've seen, I love the reviews, look, and durability of Kings Cages. If I could choose the "perfect" cage though, it would be the large walk-ins by Natural Inspiration Parrot Cages with the quality of Kings Cages. Those are the dream cages I hope to have one day, but I don't think it will be for awhile, haha

Kings Cages.
They have a 'superior' line and an 'economy' line, and even the econo line is SO much better quality than others out there. All mine are Kings. I just go to the website, call them up and order by phone. Simple.

I love my old-style Avian Adventures Mediana cages. They're over ten years old and look and function like brand new. I bought them new and have never been sorry. They've held up well, even with repeated, vigorous, daily cleaning. The paint is still glossy and no rusted places. I purchased extra parts for them when I bought them over a decade ago, and I have yet to need to replace casters, bowls, accents, or door latches.

This is the one that I am seriously considering for my galah. I have the space, so why not? My only fear is that it would tempt me to someday slip in that divider and add another bird, LOL!

I don't even know which cages I have. My lovebird is in a flight cage I've had for 5 years. MyGCC is in a large cage I've had for almost 5 years and my amazon is in a super large cage I got on craigslist.
All of them are too big and have room for multiple perches and toys. :)

If I could afford it, I would have a custom made stainless cage. But at a quote of $4,000, we had to go with a slightly more reasonable option;) (I love him and all, but he was getting a new cage for his 16th birthday, not a car!).

We got Kiwi's cage through birdcages4less.com They were very helpful in answering my questions about the cage before buying it, and the cage is of a very nice quality for the price.-

If it's the tray you're talking about, then I would suggest using Glad's Press and Seal on the bottom instead of newspaper. Cover the whole tray top instead of newspaper -- it works wonders!

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
My greenwing is in the double macaw version of Wendy's cage. I got it used. It housed a couple of Hys prior to my getting it...

My bird did manage to break the hinges on one of the two doors, but it took a few years of working at it to pull that one off...

And she's a rather large and determined bird...

Yeah, this is probably the best that money can buy right here:

King's Cages - Avian and Pet Bird Cages, Supplies, Food, Toys, Perches, Aviaries, Pluck No More

My numbers hit, and I'll take five of them...

Right, that's the one I was referring to right there...

Of course, I'd also want one of these stainless monsters for "outside time" as well...

Who cares what it costs, my numbers hit! :D

Actually it's not that expensive considering the size, the base 9 ft L x 7 ft W x 7 ft. H model is only $8,000.00.

Oh man, if I could afford to live in a place far enough away from humanity to have a cage like that, I would be in heaven. As it stands now, I have a bunch of kids in the neighborhood that would find it a grand time to kick at something like that while I'm at work..

Makes me miss home, where the entire state had a lower population than my current metro-area (smaller than my hometown in size at that..), and there were plenty of trees! I suppose I don't miss the monster mosquitos though.

Just a guess....is 'home' Alaska?? I heard the mosquitoes there are the size of flying saucers. :11:

I haven't been there, but the pictures... That's enough for me to never live there. XD
