Are Craigslist Sellers NUTS? No, I Won't Pay $200 for Your Budgie Sized Cage

Why is it that so many people on Craigslist are trying to sell cages half the size of ones you can get online for twice the price? Heck, I've seen cages that would be tight for a budgie selling for $200! Forget it, I'm going to just get a cage and sleeping cage off Amazon. For once, Craigslist is NOT a steal. And really, what size of birds are people keeping in these TINY cages? Hopefully finches.

No idea! I've gotten a lot of good stuff off craigslist (including all of my current birds) but I browse carefully. I like to message people who are rehoming some birds about the local rescues and resources, and try to help people out, but I have a lot of time!

I did find a HUGE 5 foot tall Java tree bird stand on sale on Craigslist for $70 one time--obviously the person selling it didn't know how pricey java trees are, LOL!--so I guess there are some steals. But most of the cages are just TINY. And so expensive! You can get such bigger cages brand new through a parrot website or Amazon. It almost drives me as crazy as parrot for sale adds with the info literally being just the words "pretty family bird". Really? You want to rehome this Quaker and THAT is all you have to say about it? Ugh. Craigslist, serving pet owners who know nothing about animals everywhere.

Yes, they are. I saw $350 cockatiel on craigslist for just the bird no cage with the word "serious offers only." I actually cracked up at that ad cockatiels sell b/w $60-120 in my area.
