But not quite. BB has learned if he grabs the door and the side of the cage and keeps pressure on it will cause the lock to snap. Heck I did not even realize it would do that. Thank God he has not figured out the top swing latch YET.

I feel like a creep because I put a lock on the outside of the cage door. I know it had to be done for his safety but still makes me feel like a creep.

I bragged so much about this cage. I still love it just have to take a extra step now. Not sure what has gotten into him this past week. WAY to much energy . Maybe the new light ? LOL Two perches destroyed and now the cage door.

The dogs hang around the bottom of his cage when his treat bowl is filled. Knowing he will toss what he does not want down to them. Well now the little brat will hang is head over like he is going to drop something and say NO HAHAHA NO HAHAHA Serious such a brat.

His Reputation for colorful language is well known. We have a lot of relatives coming in from out of state due to a death in the family. I was asked how many I could put up. Well actually two We have a twin bed and couch . I was told Fine will send over James brother and his wife they can handle BB's cussing.

I found out yesterday that the UPS guy takes a break on my deck and talks with BB when the weather is nice. Couple next door told me they see him sitting drinking sometimes eating a sandwich and can hear him saying Pretty bird . Good bird. LOL Wonder if BB has cussed him out yet .

James called me at work yesterday afternoon. Said I don't know what to do. BB keeps yelling. I said um what are you doing he said just fixed lunch and getting ready to eat when he threw a fit. I said feed him. James said wait you feed him in the morning and at night. Yes I do but if you eat he eats . Issue solved but , made me realize not only do i have to make sure someone takes him when i die but i need to start a diary of what to do and not to do. Likes and dislike. I mean James is there every day now and still somethings he does not know.

So that is my Brats update.

Love the top swing latch. The too hasn't figured it out yet but my Ekkie has. They both have figured out the door latch.

That is so funny.

This says a lot about you and your UPS guy. Isn't that nice that he feels comfortable enough to hang around your place and talk to the bird. I really do like this.

James called me at work yesterday afternoon. Said I don't know what to do. BB keeps yelling. I said um what are you doing he said just fixed lunch and getting ready to eat when he threw a fit. Such a bird thing. But my cats expect this too.

So that is my Brats update.
I love hearing the updates.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Thank God he has not figured out the top swing latch YET.

Key word there is YET!

As for teasing the dogs, it was just a matter of time before he figured out the sport of dog manipulation... this opens a whole new door of relatively harmless parrot fun and entertainment (at their expense.)

But the sport of "Wanna see how high the cat can jump?" is still king...

He also took flight this past Sunday. He was on his cage door. I noticed he kept opening his wings and ducking . James walked in the door and BB took off toward me . Perfect landing on the Coffee Table.

Great update, Christine! Nice to see BB is making friends and influencing people! He's developed a friendship with the UPS guy, hilarious. I feel your pain with the locks, Poppy has custom locks on her food doors, so far she's just rattled them to let me know she could remove them if she wanted to.

I hate to say it, but I love that BB taunts the dogs. Makes me laugh just thinking about it. Such a character!

Nice update! Was last Sunday's flight his first?

Smart guy. It's good that you put on that lock. Probably wouldn't have been long before he figured out the top latch as well.

Uhmmm... where are the pics?

I know I suck at the picture thing lol. It was his first um take off that he did not crash land in the floor so yes I am calling it a flight lol

I suck at the picture thing. Will try to set it as a top must do thing this weekend.

I think the light i bought is helping. His I AM THE MAN attitude has chilled out some. He never would let me preen him while he was near the cage. Now he will. I also noticed a better shine to his feathers. Still just fluffs around parts of his neck. I was told he was not a plucker before but I know that is a lie. Must be. Few bare spots still on the inside of his leg but over all feathers are looking good.

Sweet! Are you actively working on his takeoffs and landings?

Interesting to see that the light actually seems to be adjusting his attitude so quickly. I'm looking forward to learning if this is an ongoing effect.

Not sure if its the light or just him. I normally leave before sun up and come home just before sundown. His cage is near a window but not full direct sun. Will let you know.

I actually never worked on his flying. It has taken me right at a year to get him to let me touch him all over and not bluff every 5 minutes.

We have had a death in the family so things are kinda crazy around the house right now. BB has gone from I will sit here and watch attitude to sticking his foot out to be picked up by me every time he sees me. I guess all the activity . Few family members will be staying with us the next few days. Well good time to work on social skills.

Don't feel bad. Every one of Zoe's food doors, breeder door and front door are either chained or zip tied shut with stainless steel zip ties. You'd think I was keeping a demented convict in there instead of a determined mac.

Sounds like you're doing a great job with BB.

@ Christinenc2000. Great posts, thanks for the great reading, yes sounds like your are doing a great job. Good luck with the locks!

Do you think that he could just be picking up on the extra emotions at this sad time and seeks reassurance?

He is now wandering all over the house following me. He really has improved in the last week or so. I am not sure if its the Light I bought him or just he is ready to be sweetie

Probably a reminder to most of us that a Pet Passport is something else to put on that list!

Here's the UK one for reference :-
