After looking around for a better solution to my bowl problem, I discovered biodegradable disposable bowls.

Finding the correct diameter for the 20oz King's Cages was the hard part. After hours of research, I finally found the right size to drop into the stainless 20oz. bowls. This is the same size as what's in our large non-King's cage.

The reason for needing disposable bowls is because I can't do dishes easily from my chair. With the addition of two more Ekkies, I had to come up with a solution since I now have four Ekkies who get fed twice a day. This means 8 dirty dishes a day to be scrubbed from caked-on mash and fruit. Washing dishes is for the birds!

I also couldn't justify throwing that much plastic away per day. I found bowls made from the pulp of sugar canes (NO actual sugar!) and they double as toys! All of my guys destroy their dishes after they're done eating. This makes eating far more interesting for them and also encourages them from being too much of a perch potato.

Here are the properly-sized bowls. Yes, the pack of 600 seems like a lot but they will be gone in 3 months at the rate I use them. They are sturdy enough to hold a wet mash for 12 hours without disintegrating.

At $10 per month, it's actually not much more expensive than running the water, electricity from the dishwasher, dish soap, and not to mention TIME. Because washing dishes isn't really an option for me (hubby does them at night time for me) this allows me to feed them when I am able and I don't have to wait for Rob or make him wash dishes when he's exhausted from caring for me and working 12 hour days.

The 12oz bowl is the right one. They are 5.25" diameter and actually sit in the bowl rings if your bird uses a perch to stand on. I don't recommend them for water for extended periods of time but I'm sure you could! They do sell smaller quantities if you search Amazon, if you're just wanting to test them out.
