Is cal-king a california cage

Not sure if it's California or not... I would think it would be marked, but I've never had one, so maybe somebody else here can say. Whether California or not, I would go mostly by inspection - is it sturdy, no chewed-off powder-coat, no sharp edges - stuff like that.

It it over an hour away, so I hate to drive all the way there to find a cheaply made cage. Non pet people tend to think everything is great, heavy duty, sturdy, etc...... I asked for better photos and a pic of the name plate. I was just curious if cal-king a way california cages branded their products. A lot of times companies use acronyms or trade names.
If the pics look good I will probably take a ride out there.
I am really disappointed. I have a really nice cage, but the bars are coming loose. I guess I should find a good welder and have the cage repaired. Even a spare cage would really come in handy for that.

I feel yer pain! I recently thought of replacing my bird's house because he had chewed through the powder coat in some spots. But then I had a bright idea of using stainless steel washers to cover the spots, and voila: safe cage. Kinda funny-looking but just fine, and didn't have to re-house.

Its a fairly standard constructed Parrot Cage. Looks like something in the 23D x 32W x Height size range or maybe a bit larger. The construction is somewhat current and appears to have a full height front door opening, which is really nice when you need to clean it, replace the bowls, move the Parrot in /out, etc...
General build appears to be steel construction, welded and Powder Coated.
The door hing side should be looked at closely, since the picture does not clearly show what or how it is hinged.
Double check that the bottom tray is in its proper location, it looks like it is set too low.
New cage in this size range is in the $ 350 - 450 USD.

WOW! Thanks fort he detailed breakdown! I think I will pass on this one, seeing how it is used and just the low grade cage it may not be worth the drive out there.
Found another hobbyist who has a new (floor model) kings cage (economy model) for just over half what they retail for. I may get than as an extra or just wait for something better. If I can find a good welder in the area I will get my big cage fixed.

Just an FYI; This 'grade' of cage represents about 60+ percent of what is available and used in today's market. Its construction represents the average in that market. There are clearly better built cages on the market and lots of far worst cages both in materials used and construction.
The choice in cage manufacturers continues to dwindle as the Parrot Market becomes smaller. There is just fewer people entering the Parrot Market. As a reality of the lower demand, we have fewer Parrot products choices today across the board.
Long story short. If you can get a King Cage at a price that you can afford, please do so.
