Goofy (YNA), Oscar (Goffin 'too). Foster bird Betty (RLA). RIP Cookie, 1991-2016 ('tiel), Leo (Sengal), Charlotte (scarlet macaw). Grand-birds: Liam (budgie), Donovan (lovebird), RIP Angelo (budgie)
Even with all these birds, I've never actually purchased a cage. MrC had Goofy and Cookie for years before I ever even met him, and Leo and Charlotte came with their cages. All of the cages have been excellent quality and the right sizes for the birds, so I've never had to think about this.

Well now that I'm considering Bender (the Bare Eyed 'Too), I need to consider purchasing a cage for him. I have plenty of time to shop and compare, since I'm not considering bringing him home for several months minimum, but I'd still like to be prepared once I make that decision.

There's way too may choices out there. I don't even know what brands my existing cages are, so I can't even start there. Ugh! Can somebody give me a quick start guide to purchasing a new/used cage?

Thanks.

First list all the things you like about the existing cage(s) and then what you don't like. This will give you a list of what you want in the new cage and what you do not. That should greatly reduce what is available and clearly shorten the list of choices.

Next comes your budget and that will of course reduce the choices again.

For us, one of the big items is a full length front door.

Now see if this cuts things down for you.
