Great video regarding cage arrangement! I Love including the Parrot in the cage assembly and then the placement of everything on and in the cage.

A couple of small points; The highest perch in the cage should be the roosting perch and located, as you say, in the back and/or protected area of the cage. That 'highest' roosting perch should never to a concrete or other nail trimming and/or Beak cleaning style perch as they will, as you noted, damage the pads on the bottom of their toes.

We will use the placement of some of the hanging toys (in front and sides) to create a limited sight area for the additional protection of the Parrot's sleeping area. This in addition to the placement of the cage maximizes the comfort for the Parrot. Much like in a natural setting of branches near surrounding their roosting perch.

Thank-you, for your Thread and Video!

That was a great inspiration video for me. I'm still gathering stuff and trying to think of how to put 2 cages together with perches and toys, etc. I have to buy more stuff!! Seems never ending. I didn't know that rope perches had hazards, so I will only use them outside the cage, and I will buy some sisal ones! Thanks for posting. :)

FYI: Target cages with a full height front door! It makes accessing much easier regardless of what you are doing; removing /returning Parrot, re-arranging, cleaning, adding /changing food and water, etc... Much Easier!

The 2 cages I got are very similar to the red one in this video. Big doors. :)

Loving the idea of using hanging toys for a sleeping area, that's really great!

I'm trying to find sisal boings in Canada, and it's difficult and extremely expensive. Perches are $60-100. I don't want to make a mistake. What diameter should I be looking at for a GCC? I'm seeing a lot of 1", some 1/2" and almost no 3/4". The lack of affordable perch options is depressing.

Bed bath and beyond used to have them online for $16 for the 1" ones but I can't find it now that I look for it :(. For our GCC 1" worked just fine. She also has one that is 1/2" and that worked fine as well! I know that some breeders around Canada will also sell them (I believe they get theirs shipped from US) so you may want to ask around. Hopefully bed bath and beyond will start carrying it again sometime. I am sorry I can't be more helpful :(. Lack of options for all parrot products in Canada in general is quite distressing indeed... I hope it is something that will improve soon!

Thanks FlockFive! I found a Canadian site that had them for a reasonable price. I chose 1/2" size because I'm trying to get a decent variety of perch sizes in the cage. :) The website I used is Things for Wings.
