My beautiful and hilarious little parakeet, Strat, (short for the Stratacaster guitar, since he loved rock music) passed away a few months ago, after 7 years of fun and craziness. Just got an IRN!
Hello again! I have a mix of different perches in my IRN's cage, including some natural ones. The natural ones use a bolt, washers and wing nut to attach to the cage. I'm worried about my little bud climbing around and possibly hurting his little feet on them or maybe chewing on the metal. (Some pieces at least are magnetic) Do you normally use something to cover those up? If so, with what? All my concern about toy safety, then I noticed the hardware on the perches, which seems ominous.
Suggestions? Thanks!

Parrots
Angel (Cockatiel) - Grey and Yellow/Basic
Crystal (Parakeet) - Bright Yellow
Kiwi (Parakeet) - Mostly white/ with tints, and mix of colors
my all time favorite perches to use are the rope ones
also there is a little device you can buy on some bird sale sites. I have one. Might have gotten it on petco.com
anyways you go out and find a tree branch that works for the need, length ect.
just make sure its not toxic for ur little guy. and it turns and tightens around a natural branch making an easy and replaceable perch

A couple of ideas. Is it possible to thread a piece of a bic pen on the end? Or replace the bolt with one that has wood screw threads on both ends and mount a branch on the outside. If impractical, then just a nub! Just thought, if you take a nub, drill it out, fill with Elmer’s glue and press on the end of the bolt, it will dry and should be able to be unscrewed if needed. The Elmer’s will not adhere to the bolt.
A simple solution also, find a threaded sleeve that matches the bolt. Lowe’s has a large selection of SS hardware!

Thanks for the replies. Flboy- my apologies, but... uh... what's a "nub"? lol

Thanks again in advance!
