Introducing my birds to the Pak o Bird?

So, I just got my Pak o Bird today. My birds are not necessarily scared of it, but they aren’t so keen on climbing inside. I am thinking of leaving it out in the room with some spray millet, a toy and other treats that will attract them to sit in it while it is open, and only when they are very accustomed to it I will close it up.

Does anyone have some advice about what the best way to go about introducing them to the backpack is?

I couldn't keep Kiwi out of his when we first got it. It was the learning to stay balanced while moving in it that was the big challenge for us.

You added a perch in it, right? Did that help at all?

Kiwi and new things, can't keep that guy out or away from anything new! Love him!

You added a perch in it, right? Did that help at all?

Kiwi and new things, can't keep that guy out or away from anything new! Love him!

It came with a perch and he learned to balance as we walked around through slow acclimation. I added a little "handle" (plastic drawer pull) for him to grip on in the car when we come to sudden stops or go around corners. I'm unsure how much he uses it while we walk as I can't see him on my back

And yes, he is certainly a curious little thing

I mentioned that I made a beak grab bar for mine but I don't use it anymore. I installed the two cups in it. Fruit in one instead of water and the other she uses to stabilize herself, one foot on the perch and the other on the bowl. She's very talkative when riding in it.

The only thing I caution or at least I wonder about, and I brought this up before....when we walk our head stays steady but the rest of our body follows our hips a lot and the pack-o-bird may tend to sway etc.

I'd wonder if my bird would get all tired out from just keeping on balance kind of like what bill_e is talking about.

I think it's a wonderful invention!, but I'd be mindful of your bodies natural movements and how it effects the bird sitting on a perch on your back, I imagine it's easier to sit on a nice wide shoulder. Basically don't go exercising with it on etc.

It's pretty easy to make modifications to the POB. Would you think your bird would find it easier if he had multiple perches so he could rest his bottom on them to stabilize?

Nike has been out with me for a couple of hours bouncing around...never seemed to phase her. If you think about it this is good exercise. In the wild they would be on blowing tree branches, constantly using different muscles to stabilize themselves.
