Hello,

I'm looking at getting an outside aviary for my Mynah and Alexandrine. They would only ever be in it supervised and never together.

Does anyone have any experience with VidaXL bird products? They have very good reviews, but I think are like Amazon and sell 100s of products (that seem to all be their own brand?!) so just because someone liked a pushchair doesn't mean their pet products are any good.

Many thanks!

I have never used their products, but have always steered clear on cages that use Wood as part of the structure of the cage. Hook Bills, as a group, love to chew and the Wood Structure would quickly be chewed.

Also, there is no way to know if the the stain used is safe for Parrots.

I would recommend a more traditional Parrot Cage. Just assure that you do not leave it out in the weather.

Thanks SailBoat, the couple I'm looking at are all aluminium, they don't give details of the mesh gauge, which is what concerns me. I hadn't though about putting a normal cage outside. I can have a look at secondhand ones that would be too big for the house. I was planning to dismantle and store when not in use anyway. Thanks for the idea! I do like the idea of my Alexandrine being able to get a proper fly on though so I'll keep researching aviaries too!

Take a long and hard look at local codes regarding dog runs and like structures as most governmental group have building codes.

Remember that your reason for building them strong has more to do with keeping the great outdoors from getting inside. Also, be mindful of what the structure and bars are made of and/or coated with. Remember that Most are coated steel using Zine or Chrome with are or contain heavy metals.

Concrete floors are important as they keep animals that dig out and makes clean-up much easier. Remember to extend it beyond the outer vertical structure. Also remember that a double door access with about 1 meter between the doors is important.

And, the list goes on and on!
