Tax return = bigger cage!

Its tax return time so I'm going to get Fidget a bigger cage! Fidget is a BFA and a toy junkie. I live in an apt so space is at a premium. I'm looking at maybe a corner cage because of that. (plus another one just for fun)

Heres a few I'm looking at. Just looking for opinions, experience, pros and cons or any thoughts anyone has on these. I would love to hear how people like their corner cages and how easy they are to keep clean as well.

Oh, there will be a big playstand right next to the cage that he will be able to get to from the cage when he is out of his cage.

Well, to avoid having to pay like in previous years, I have extra taken out 4 times a month. This year, I ended up with a surplus! Fidget is reaping the benefits!

Now, whats your thoughts on those cages?

They all look really nice, but the last one is intriguing. A design with multiple cage features in one unit. Only caution are the "clam shell" doors at top of left side top. Unless propped open by a tight fitting dowel/perch, they can slam down and possibly injure your bird.

I was actually myself going to get the stainless steel version of the last cage for Frankie. I came to the same conclusion don't care for those top doors, or play area and when with the Feather Land stainless steel cage instead. Birds do chew the perches and can see doors on top slamming shut.

The other two are good and same pretty much as the one I have for my mated pair of umbrella Cockatoos. My female Baby figured out how to escape it? She does figure out how to escape on every cage she been in. They do like this cage as they not in a hurry in the morning to come out, like the smaller cage they were in. Quality is good, if its the same manufacturer that does the Kings cage version?

Unless you absolutely have to do not get those 5 cornered ones- so much space the bird cannot really use. Far less space for flapping & stretching the wings etc.

I know a ordinary square/rectangular one is more 'in your face' / less pleasantly designy looking.

Overhere when it comes to larger cages section: our version of craighlist is populated with the 5 corner-ones because of "not being large enough for the bird", "hell to clean" or "unpractical, does not fit anywhere else in the room".

(unless you have a really small bird, I am thinking caique or senegal, but then the barspacing is going to be a potential problem)

These are very wide inside. they are way different then regular corner cages your thinking off. These actually come out way more forward, making interior space great inside. It is the biggest I seen in till you get into walk in aviary. No other cage I seen that as wide. They have so much room they it take them a while to climb to the other side. It much bigger inside then the Largest Prevue cage Empire, or Silverado Extra Large Bird Cage I seen breeders like to use for 2 Macaws. Plus those have a bar spacing of 1 3/8" wire spacing which is not good. This is actually the easiest cage to clean as you can pretty much fit inside it, it way larger then you thinking it is. You can fit inside it and reach areas to clean without issues.

Even though it gets narrow in the back, it make up for that by coming out forward quite a bit and smallest point it still 25.25" inches wide direct on front panel and about 40 wide in the middle . The wooden Perches that came with it are - 39 3/4" LongBar spacing is Bar Spacing: 3/4. Even then yes used as a sleeping cage as their are out during the day. No such thing as a wide enough cage in my opinion to keep a large bird in all day long. Unless you built a custom enclosure, or walk in aviary. For limited space these are great and better option then a large cage not in the corner taking up floor space. Then you can use the extra floor space for 5 foot tree and ETC for a play area. Plus I know my U2's like this one more as they are not in a hurry to come out, or begging to as they were in the Prevue cage. They go in on their own with zero issues, with the Prevue cage I had to do a routine song and dance to get mainly my female U2 back into her cage at night without screaming at me.

The corner cages that you are thinking off that I hate as well are the flat in front design like this below. These I always tell people to avoid these as no mid point and get narrow right off the bat not leaving very much Interior space..

Good but not for very large bird as a Macaw, unless strictly as a sleeping cage. This is more of a box design that get flat only in the front, but retains a box shape for the most part just turned at a angle.

I've heard that before and didn't plan on using it and would do something so it couldn't be opened.
Another interesting thing about this cage is that it comes with a divider so it could be separated into 2 sides to house 2 birds. (I only have 1 but who knows what the future holds [emoji4])

Here is what he has now. If I get the corner cage, I was thinking of taking the playtop off of his current cage and chaining to the top of the new cage. The he would also have the big playstand within reach of the cage too.

His current cage is the Avian Adventures Mediana cage.

Of the two corner cages, one of them doesnt have the seed guards. That worries me a bit. His seed guards get a lot of use, (I have to clean them often) and without them, I think about all the mess that would end up on the floor. In the reviews, no one mentions that so it makes me wonder if I'm overthinking that issue.

The play top may not fit on top as cage is 6 foot tall.

Oh wow, he'll love any of them! My vote goes for either of the 1st 2. The last one looks faffy and to my mind the possibility of a larger inside cage space has been taken up by the attached playstand. Not sure how appealing or usable it would be to a bird as it will be darker and lower than the other half.

I love that stainless cage, but I dont have anywhere near that much money!

True. If it doesnt fit, thats ok. He still has plenty of play area. Just thinking that IF it does fit, it would be nice. He spends TONS of time sitting on top of the toy hook!

Yes, it just doesnt look as big as the first two and bigger is my goal. I like the style of the 3rd one, but it also feels a bit redundant. He doesnt need that little play area with all the other room he has. And I measured, its footprint isnt that much bigger then what he has, which I dont like.

Hmm, now looking at this Kings Cage one. I like it too.

They do have a power coated version of that same cage. Yes stainless steel is much easier to clean.
