Re: Frankie the little corella Cockatoo new stainless steel cage

Did get it cleaned up and together. One of the easiest I had to assemble as folds out pretty much. Will move rest of toys and perches tomorrow, as keeping him in his old cage for now. Do like that they thought of small details. Like doors have a stopper so bird can't lift the door off hinges. Then the two hooks for hanging toys and the stoppers to keep grates from being push out by birds. Everything lined up correctly and is pretty even, which is good. Size is good as 28" L X 42" W X 66" H and did measure it and is dead on specs. No damage as was shipped like Kings cages are freight and two boxes on a pallet. So far happy with it. Time will tell how well it holds up?

That's a good start! Can't wait to see it standing!

Were you satisfied with the packaging?

Packaging was good as shipped in two separate boxes and had foam around edges and came on pallet freight.

We modified the seed-catcher on ours. The silly things stuck out too far and scraped everyone's legs, so hubby cut the corners off and reaffixed the metal so that it's flush with the cage. Works much better!

That's a superb cage, though! Frankie's gonna have a ball in there! :)

PS. Does he have a ball? Rosetta loves chucking a ball about, so she has quite a few. The little whiffle balls with a bell inside are great fun but you need to be careful. A corella can *easily* open the cheap ones and get the bell out - and we all know about cheap bells! Then, there's the larger (4") baby rattle ones that have a big plastic bead inside. 'Setta's favourite, though, is a cheap plastic ball with animal shapes cut out of it. She drags this around wherever she goes and knows to within a millimetre exactly where it is. She'll reach behind her with one toe and snag it with her toenail, then hop along, dragging the ball behind her. She's also been known to somersault over the top of it when she chased it a bit too enthusiastically. Check out baby toys in thrift shops: you can find some excellent stuff there! :)

Yep looks just like mine only even more E-FREAKIN-NORMOUS!! Frankie should love it, provided it can stand up to his beak. I hope you don't have issues with wheels falling out like i do...

Looks like a great cage! Glad it was easy to put together and came damage free!

(I'm going for the same luck when mine arrives Friday!)

So far it is good, as easy to put together, took me 15 minutes. Everything line up correctly, no damage and lot of room for toys and will now have room for a swing and ropes and it looks great. Latch on door I am 50/50 on as like the Kings cage 2 stage latch better.

I now considering getting my mated Cockatiels one to match it, as had to separate them from Wylie and saw this one with 5/8 bar spacing? It the same company that makes the Caitec Featherland cages

Was first going to get this one but not sure on size for two cockatiels,as they were in a much larger cage before? 27"W x 18"D x 56.5"H

The one condering?

Thankfully wheels on mines are not falling out, was hard to push them all the way in, only time will tell?

Did order a couple of external feeders, one will be here today hopefully. Love the bowls this cage came with, as came with stoneware bowls. The external feeders will keep him from pooping in it.

I hate dowel perches, not sure why cage manufactors include them? The problem is you can't buy the size required perches for this large of a cage. I decided to cut and make my own. Have more wood coming for other two perches and do have other external feeder coming as well. Yes wood was cleaned and steamed and cleaned again.

The dowel perches that came with mine were too big for my guys’ little feet. However I fixed one to the outside of the dome-top where the horizontal bar is, about halfway down the dome, using some cable ties. Fang is happily sitting on it and preening as we speak, it makes a great little platform for him:)

Finally did get the swing and a rope for him to climb on. Still have the other two perches to work on and make, but he love the cage and getting use to things and hanging upside down on stuff and jumping around playing on the swing a few times.

See if you can get hold of a piece of sisal or cotton rope about two metres long. Knot it (granny knot or overhand knot) every foot or so and hang it from the ceiling of the cage. I tied a wooden ring at the bottom of mine. Frankie would love using it for climbing and swinging!

Miss Rosetta Stone sends happy screeches to her friend, Frankie. :)
