I want a natural hut for my birds

I think it might be best to start from why you want a hut for your birds?

Birds don't have huts in the wild unless they are nesting and looking to 'raise a family'. No matter whether it is natural or artificial, a hut is all too reminiscent of a nest. And providing a nest will often trigger nesting behaviours and hormones. When people post in these forums about their birds suddenly turning aggressive, removing the hut is too frequently the solution that people say works in solving the aggression (hormonal in nature).

So is the purpose of the hut to be like a nest for them to get in the mood?

If it's to provide a sleep area, they typically like perches high in a corner of their cage.

If you look at the threads on this forum containing this subject, it probably doesn't take long to see the number of problems they create rather than solve, I haven't yet heard of a time where these things made an improvement on the day to day life of a bird where the parront isn't deliberately trying to incite nesting/breeding, at best it is "not a problem" and at worst you'll hear the horror stories of otherwise charming and well behaved birds turning into little monsters because they got hormonal and frustrated.

My guy has never stepped foot into any that were offered! The wife’s Bongo loves any and all! But he is also a shredder!

I highly suggest seagrass mats -- they are super fun for them to chew up and climb on, plus its totally safe for them to chew on. However, they don't last too long in my house -- my tiels love climbing on and chewing them up until they're no lo onger useable lol so you could go through a few..

A trick I use for sea grass mats, those 12x12 squares also come woven in almost any size mats. If you buy an area sized one, then the cost per square is 50 cents!
They are held together with a simple weave! Old Tyme Pottery type stores are a great source
