Setting up perches inside cage

on the inside I would like to know what would be the best place for the perches to be placed?

there are three feed doors with bows, and one breeder box door.

I am going to replace the top dowel rods with tree branches from a wax myrtle tree.

any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sam

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
I know some members do this, but putting fresh branches in can be risky due to pesticide use, run-off, insecticides, molds, fungi, parasites and diseases from other birds...It is generally recommended that you bake the wood after washing it. I am hoping you will anchor them with stainless washers/screws etc.'

What kind of bird is it for (and what age)? That will impact perch location.

Yes all wood branches bark removed first then sterilized, always..

and yes anchors will be stainless washers/screws

These narrow tall cages are not my favorite........
I do use crepe myrtle! Lordy it's all over Florida, I had ten of these non native trees in my yard when. I got my place. But I do love to use them for the parrots ;) I mostly use giant zip ties to a fix them to stuff.

It's probably going to look terrible when I add all the crepe myrtle, but I know the parrots will enjoy it!

Oh thought you said crepe myrtle, is wax myrtle safe too? Didn't know. But I only have young wax myrtle right now, I'd have to wait.

Green, Blue and Yellow Quakers... love them...

Yeah I have MBS ( multiple bird syndrome) so I'm having to drastically expand perching options! :)

Not to make you hate me , as you just joined.....but if you just bought that cage for your future ekkie, and you can still return it....?
I think you want a longer than 24 inches..... I keep my GCC in a larger cage than that.......

I hate to agree because I know what a pain cages are..but I was thinking the same thing. It's too tall and narrow---they need to be able to flap without hitting things. Tall makes them seem big, but width and depth are crucial.

That candle by the cage is also electric, correct? They are so sensitive to any scents or even unscented smoke (perfumes, cleaners, candles, teflon/ptfe/pfoa/pfcs ETC) so just making sure.

the cage was move into the Kitchen to clean, it is kept in the living room.

I have yet to see a cage that was not filled with toys for the bird to play with.

the parrot will be in there to feed, and sleep, and out on stands all day... stands are in every room and even screen room, it has plenty of room to fly and hang out.

thanks for your input.
