Flight cage or otherwise? (baby cockatiel)

Hi, I just purchased a baby cockatiel and was wondering if I should just go ahead and get it a flight cage right off the bat? I have a few weeks before itā€™s ready to come home. I know with certain animals smaller is sometimes better during grow out/acclimation, but I donā€™t know if thatā€™s the case for a cockatiel. Whatā€™s the general consensus? Thanks in advance!

I havenā€™t had a baby bird - mine all came as adults. I know mine love their flight cages, so definitely recommend them. I would guess that if your baby is perching and climbing fine, a flight would be okay from the beginning. Someone with young bird experience will hopefully chime in.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
A flight cage is a gift of freedom for most species! I'll let the cockatiel experts chime in, but more room is generally best.
