Hi guys/girls...

Little help on this please.

I may have upset my caique a little while back.. I was cleaning my room where he lives and i picked up a CD off my computer under my desk and placed it on the desk without a thought about him....he ran off extremely frightened from it. Now every time he sees me go under the desk he runs and hides at the other end of the cage. Problem has now escalated to him being aggressive to me in or out the cage, but to my mum he is as good as gold.

When i let him out the cage, he will come down to my hand and sit on it whilst im on my pc and i can then play with him and pet him no problem. If i go to pick him up however he gets angry and will start displaying / lunging at me.

Any ideas on how i can stem this behaviour?

Thanks. Ask questions if needed! would be great to get started on something to be able to sort this out. (fingerscrossed)

My Caique will turn somewhat aggressive if i give her certain treats or if i try to pick her up after she bathes. I firmly tell her NO and give her the STEP UP command and she usually gets the message because she knows she will go back in her cage for a time out. I will then leave the room if i have to put her up for a few minutes and she does not like it because she wants my attention. Her attitude will change by the time i re-enter and i will let her back out. You will probably get bit but consistency is key. Reward often for all good behavior using a favorite treat or toy that your bird likes. I hope this helps!:D

Have you tried showing her around the area, to show her there is no danger?

Put some treats under your desk and play a game of going under, getting a treat and bringing it out for her so she associates the desk with treats instead of monsters :)
